Kimono and Calligraphy Experience in Miyajima

Description
Activity take place in 300-year-old Zen temple. Being away from the tourist spot, this place is really quiet and relaxing. Calligraphy has imported to Japan during 6C from China. Learn to draw the line with brush. Check the sample carefully to copy the Chinese charactor. We will ask your name so that we can prepare your name in Japanese Phonetics. Practice your name in Japanese. Write your letter on the rice scoop. Rice scoop(shamoji) is lucky item in Miyajima. Bring back the good luck with you! You can take pictures as much as you want while you are in here, and we will take pictures of you doing the lessons. You can take pictures in our Japanese garden, too. Our lesson is very good introduction to the Japanese authentic cultures. Wearing kimono make it even more special that could be the highlight of your trip.

It was a nice experience with an opportunity to wear kimono and learn Japanese calligraphy. My friend (American) and I (Japanese) really enjoyed it. It was a perfect activity to spend time while waiting for the change in high and low tides at the Itsukushima Shrine.
Thank you so much for joining us! We’re delighted you both enjoyed wearing kimono and experiencing Japanese calligraphy. We hope to see you again on Miyajima!
This was a don't miss experience. The kimonos were beautiful and the staff that dressed you took great care and time to make it perfect. The tea ceremony was lovely and insightful. Calligraphy was just enough to make you want to stay longer and learn more. It was superb!
Thank you for your review! We enjoy making my customers happy. Please come back to Japan someday.
My family had an amazing time here! There were several options for kimono even for plus sized people. They also let us have a photo shoot before the calligraphy lesson! The lesson was clear and fun! The only downside was having to get there but both Google and Apple Maps were clear on directions.
Thank you for coming. Google map always guide people to mountain side road....Sorry if you had to walk a lot. But good point of being away from the tourist area is that we have quiet environment!
We had a group of 7 and did the Kimono and Calligraphy experience. It felt much cooler to be in the Kimono learning to do some calligraphy than if we had been in our street clothes. The women that were helping us were very kind and patient. Great activity to do while visiting the island
Thak you for coming. It is always nice to wear kimono and do activities! We are happy to have you!
My wife and I had a great experience. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had actually booked a 1pm appointment, but mistakenly thought it was for 10am, and arrived early. The staff easily accommodated us anyway. The kimono dress up and picture taking was fun, and the calligraphy class was very enjoyable and our instructor was very patient and insightful. I would highly recommend this activity to anyone visiting the Hiroshima/Miyajima area
Thank you for coming. We will have you anytime if we have opening. We are all happy to have you.
We have the most beautiful experience. First our wonderful guide helped us choose and dress and their kimono. Followed by photographs in the shrine garden. Then it was time for our kanji calligraphy lesson. We had so much fun, we learnt the correct technique and were able to create our very own rice scoop to take home. We would wholeheartedly recommend this as an essential experience when visiting Japan.
Thank you very much. It was presure to have you. Kimono always make such a lovely moment and we love our job. Hope to see you again some day.
Love, loved, loved the calligraphy class. The staff was very attentive and patient as we learned basic words to try on our own. Having to write on our own rice paddle was a nice touch as we got to bring home part of the memory. Highly recommend this activity.
Thank you for the review. We are happy to have you. Hope this trip lasts in your memory for long time.
It was a wonderful experience learning the strokes. We get to choose the kanji character and practice it before writing it on the wooden scoop. We get to write our name in hiragana or katakana as well! Overall, I loved it. Thanks for letting me pick a kanji character that was not on the list!
Nice to know that you like blush writing. We hope you have displayed your rice scoop in your bedroom.
This is a small intimate experience which I found to be joyous. My son and I learned so much and our teacher was just magical. I was hesitant about putting on a kimono at my age (69!) and my shape ( rounded in the middle area), but the ladies were so kind and gentle, they treated me like royalty. The actual process of brush work calligraphy is fascinating. This place is so very very special. If you want a calligraphic experience this is THE one to go to. It was dream come true for me, it will be in my memories forever.
Thank you for coming. I enjoyed the time with you. I learned the new way to use "bloody". I am looking forword to use that term and talk like UK people.(someday)
A little tricky to find, but well worth the effort. My son and I had a wonderful time dressing in kimonos and practicing calligraphy. The ladies there were so warm and welcoming.
Thank you very much for your review. We are always happy to have guests who is interested in our culture! thank you for coming
