Keukenhof Gardens & Tulip Experience Tour from Amsterdam

Description
Enjoy a comfortable and scenic ride from Amsterdam to the bulb flower area of Lisse where, depending on the season, you will witness a landscape with stunning, colorful bulb flower carpets. The Tulip Experience. This family-owned business is established by an actual tulip farmer and his daughter. At the Tulip Experience, you will learn everything there is to know about the wonderful tulips at their indoor museum before making your way into their absolute highlight: the show garden. Amaze at endless fields containing more than 1 million tulips. The best part? You get to explore the fields freely and take as many photos as you want! After the Tulip Experience, we will make our way to our next destination; the Keukenhof Gardens. Once a kitchen garden filled with vegetables and herbs, it now has the distinction of being the world’s most extensive flower garden. Stroll through the 15 kilometers of paths and 32 hectares of gardens, where millions of bulbs are planted each year!

The pick went off on time and took to Kuekenhof and flower gardens as expected. The trip went on time.
Both the Tulip experience and the Gardens were absolutely beautiful. There was enough time to explore both.
That the meeting place was changed after I made the reservation. Forunately I saw the bus, asked the driver and he said to wait with him that he didn't know where the meeting place was either. Hmmm.
They provide the location for the meeting point, what they neglect to tell you is you have to walk nearly a mile to the bus because the bus doesn't pick you up from the meeting point, which is their ticket office. The walk took longer than usual because we had some older/ disabled people in our group. Our first stop at the tulip field was cut short by 20 minutes. While we were supposed to have an hour, we only had 40 minutes. The bus then left a group of people behind, including my wife, who were not on the bus in time. The group literally watched the bus drive away because they were standing right next to it, and the driver would not stop. I attempted to get the driver to stop and he either did not speak English, or chose to ignore me. The "guide" was on the second bus in the group. When we get to the next stop I tell the guide and he simply shrugs and says "well they weren't on the bus." He then asks how many people. When I tell him 3 he says, "Oh I thought it was more like 7", and walks off. My wife was able to get to the next stop because she took a bolt with 2 other people from the tour who were left behind. Very unprofessional and rude. I will never book with this company again.
Meeting point was easy to find and there were staffs from the tour company who will accompany you to the bus pick up point. We had a free drink at the Tulip farm and had some time on our own at both the tulip farm and Keukenhof gardens.
This tour is good if you are a tourist looking for an easy way to see both tulip fields and the full range of tulips. However, the Tulip Experience part was way shorter (45 min.) compared to the almost 3 hours we had at Keukenhof. I didn’t get to see as much as I would have liked at the fields, but it was still a good way to see the tulips in-season. Don’t expect a tour guide though, it’s self guided.
Best part of the trip. A must do!!! The prettiest thing I’ve ever seen.
Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear this was the highlight of your trip and that you found it so unforgettable. It’s great to know you enjoyed the experience so much. We truly appreciate your enthusiastic recommendation and hope to welcome you again in the future. Team Tourcompany
It wasn't quite the tour I was expecting, that said it was a lovely day. They give you the right amount of time at the two stops. If you're wanting a tour where someone talks you through the tulips history and local area this isn't the tour for you. You have an opportunity to read about it at the tulip farm but that's it. Yes the park is extremely busy but you can still have a nice time in the park, it's worth the visit. Just turn left when you enter the park for a quieter path. This takes you away from the famous windmill where the crowds are.
Thank you for your honest and thoughtful review. We’re glad to hear you still had a lovely day overall and appreciated the time given at both stops. It’s also great to know you found Keukenhof enjoyable despite the busy conditions, and we appreciate you sharing a helpful tip for future visitors. We understand your comment regarding the level of guiding and historical information provided during the tour. This is valuable feedback, and we will take it into account as we continue to review and improve the guest experience and expectations set for this excursion. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope to welcome you on another tour in the future. Team Tourcompany
Strange experience having to check- in at one location and then having to walk to another to find the bus. Any how good driver/tour guide. Enjoyable day.
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear you had an enjoyable day overall and that both the driver and tour guide made a positive impression. We’re sorry to hear that the check-in process and walk to the bus felt a bit confusing. We understand how this can affect the start of the experience, and we appreciate you pointing it out so we can look at ways to improve clarity and ease for future guests. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope to welcome you on another tour in the future. Team Tourcompany
The bus ride and of course Keukenhof were very good. However, the bus access is actually a 1/2 mile walk from the 'meeting point' to the actual bus. The bus returns to this point also, 1/2 mile from the 'meeting point.' It would have been very nice to have known that in advance. Also, I messaged Viator several days before I went on this activity to ask if the 'return time to Amsterdam' was flexible (the excursion said the return to Amsterdam would be at 3:30 PM). Viator assured me there was flexibility, and that there was a bus returning from Keukenhof to Amsterday every 30 minutes and we could take any of those we wanted. In actuality when checking in at the meeting point for our activity, we were told that there is NO flexibility and that we MUST return with the same bus we took to Keukenhof. Our only option to return earlier or later would be to arrange our own transportation back to the city. Complete opposite of what Viator told me. Because there was traffic getting to Keukenhof, our bus driver announced (as we neared Keukenhof) that the return time would be 4:30 instead of 3:30. So we didn't arrive in Amsterday until 5:30 PM. I contacted Viator upon my return home and asked that they correct their information on this activity to show that there is NO FLEXIBILITY to return from Keukenhof to Amsterdam, and that the actual bus boarding (and disembarking point) is a 1/2 mile walk from the 'meeting point.' The tour representative led the entire busload of passengers on foot for 1/2 mile to the bus' actual location. This should be spelled out in the activity description! The first Viator representative I chatted with after the activity kept simply pasting language from the activity description (not addressing my issues) and hung up on me. The second Viator representative tried to get me a supervisor to chat, and finally said a supervisor would have to call me back. Of course no call ever came. So heads-up to those interested in this activity! Viator is not helpful.
Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the bus ride and Keukenhof Gardens, but we’re sorry that several important aspects of the experience did not meet your expectations. We understand your concern regarding the walking distance between the meeting point and the bus location. While this operational setup is sometimes required due to local logistics and coach access restrictions, we agree that clearer information in advance would help set better expectations for guests. Your feedback on this is very helpful and will be reviewed. We’re also sorry to hear about the confusion regarding return flexibility. For this specific tour, guests are generally required to return with their assigned coach due to scheduling and capacity planning. If different information was provided through a third-party platform, we understand how frustrating that inconsistency must have been. We will review how this is communicated to help avoid misunderstandings in the future. Regarding the delay caused by traffic, we understand that extended travel time can impact plans for the rest of the day, even though such delays are sometimes unavoidable during peak season. Thank you again for your feedback. We appreciate you bringing these points to our attention, as they help us improve both communication and the overall guest experience. Team Tourcompany
