Jewish Heritage Walking Athens Private Tour

Description
The fact that there has been a Jewish presence in Greece for centuries eludes most people and even some Greeks! My tour takes about 4 hours and dives into the rich history of the Athenian Jewish community. We will visit the iconic Beth Shalom Synagogue a stunning building and much, much more. Next, we will explore the Etz Haim Synagogue, a symbol of resilience and the enduring spirit of the Greek Romaniote Jewish community. Then it's a short walk to the Holocaust Memorial of Greek Jews. At a bit of a lighter pace, we will visit the flea market and learn of its origins while searching for hidden gems. Continuing our journey, we will walk by the Ancient Greek Agora, that is believed to behold the oldest synagogue in Greece. Before the end of course we will see the Jewish Museum of Athens. Topping off our tour, we will eat a wonderfully catered meal at a kosher restaurant.

Our Jewish tour of Athens was outstanding, thanks to Angela. Her knowledge of Jewish history and culture brought every site to life, and she made the experience both informative and enjoyable. What impressed me most was how accommodating she was regarding my multiple sclerosis. She thoughtfully adjusted the pace, made sure I had opportunities to sit and stay in the shade, and ensured I was comfortable throughout the tour. At the same time, she incorporated plenty of historical detail to satisfy my husband’s love of history. Angela perfectly tailored the experience to our interests and needs. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a meaningful and personalized Jewish tour of Athens.

Very interesting tour of Jewish life in Athens. Great to hear that Jews here feel very safe today. As elsewhere in Europe, horrifying to see and hear what the Nazi’s did to the Jewish Community and others, but grateful to the many Greeks who helped the Jews escape and took them in
Thank you for your thoughtful comments. It was a pleasure sharing the history of Jewish life in Athens with you. The story of the Jewish community during WWII is heartbreaking, but also inspiring because of the many Greeks who helped Jews escape and survive during the Nazi occupation. Today, Athens remains a safe and welcoming place, where Jewish heritage and history continue to be an important part of the city’s culture.
This was a wonderful tour with an outstanding tour guide. Angela not only educated us on Jewish Heritage abut also gave us a lot of information on Greece. She spent nearly 4 hours with us. This is one of the best tours we've ever taken. My thanks to Angela for this experience.

Angela was both enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable about Greek Jewish culture and history , she spent extra time with us and was relaxed and refreshing to spend a half day walking Athens. Her unique background and life experiences and travel aided her presentation and communication skills. One highlight was visiting the Synagogue!! We highly recommend this tour and guide!!
Thank you very much Mr Paul. We hope see you again maybe with another tour like Full Day Athens or Delphi tour...
