Anastasia was great. She was very sweet and tried to make sure that everyone was engaged and included. She knew lots of historical information and shared that with her group enthusiastically. This is not a reflection on Anastasia, but the transmitter that was given to her by the Athens Walk was not in good working order. And they did not provide extra ones incase there was a technical issues. I would highly recommend that TripAdvisor provide extra transmitters and headsets in motivation of such issues.
Orestes was an excellent tour guide. He was funny, entertaining and engaging. He made the Acropolis and the Museum come alive for us.
John the Archiologist our giuide was amazing. Extremely knowledgable. Was like a university history class. And very fun too!!
Our guide was very low energy, low engagement and not very interesting to listen to. He didn’t do anything to make it fun or entertaining. It made for a very long two hours. We were in a group of 20 and one of our devices didn’t work properly from the start. We notified him, but he chose not to replace it and didn’t do anything even though to make sure my family member could hear him even though he knew her device stopped working so we had to try and chase and pace with him through the crowded areas. My device worked ok, but still broke up frequently. He also didn’t really seem to create time or opportunities for pictures which everyone who goes in such a tour typically wants. It was a very underwhelming experience for such an important historic treasure.
Demos was our guide for the tour and executed the tour with great expertise and authority of the subject. He gave the information in a modern and humorous way given that the subject was historical in nature. He asked the group to use the imagination to go back in time and history in a fun way. I would recommend Demos to any one doing this tour of the Acropolis.
Eleni was a fantastic guide. She brought the history to life and did a wonderful job explaining and engaging our kids (age 7 and 10). We truly enjoyed the tour!
My husband was not interested in this tour but he absolutely enjoyed with John (Yanis?)! Gosh, he is so knowledgeable yet very funny with jokes. My husband and I genuinely enjoyed all the Greek mythology and stories during a hot day! He made sure we stayed in the shade as much as we can. The place has very limited shaded area. Make sure to wear a hat and comfy shoes (elevation is no joke), bring a fan and water bottle (there is a water station you can fill up your bottle and/or vending machine). He also recommended some coffee shops and restaurants to go after the tour; and we had the best tomato dip and pita bread. He is indeed a great local - highly recommend!
Great tour! Guide was incredibly knowledgeable. She answered everyone’s questions with ease. Can’t imagine going this tour without a guide. Highly recommend!
Our family (2 adults/2 teens) had a great experience. We learned a lot. It was much better than just going on our own and taking a few pictures. Our guide was great and knowledgeable. We did the Acropolis and museum tour. We went early to avoid the heat, but it turned out to be a nice day and the guide found shade for us throughout the hike. We were all glad we did it.
The tour was really informative and our guide Bisilli (Bill) was really knowledgeable! It was a great tour to end our vacation!
