Itinerary
We depart Hobart heading east then following the coastline north. We travel through the seaside towns of Orford and Swansea as we make our way to Freycinet National Park. Freycinet is one of Tasmania’s first National Parks, famous for its rich and stunning coastal landscapes. Pink Granite Mountains form the backdrop for secluded bays, pristine waters, white sandy beaches, local wildlife and amazing walking trails.
We walk as a group to the Wineglass Bay Lookout; this is a moderate uphill walk of around 45 minutes. Once at the top you are rewarded with that world – famous view of Wineglass Bay and the stunning Freycinet National Park. Enjoy the moment, take in the views, and let our guides help you with those sought after photographs. The walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout is one of the Great Short Walks of Tasmania and requires good mobility and adequate fitness. It is 1.3 km uphill, before returning downhill.
From the Lookout you have the option to return to the start of the walk with our tour guide, or for the keen hikers you can choose to spend the rest of your time completing the walk down to Wineglass Bay beach. Wineglass Bay Beach Walk – This is a 2.5 hr return walk and good fitness is required. Our tour has ample time for you to do the full walk to Wineglass Bay Beach and return. Once on the beach you can enjoy your lunch in this stunning setting, jump in the pristine waters for a swim, or wander along the white sands. This is one of the most rewarding walks in Tasmania to a stunning location.
If you prefer to select the shorter walking option, then we return from the Lookout with our Tour Guide and explore other areas of Freycinet National Park. We Visit the beautiful Honeymoon Bay and enjoy our lunch while taking in the scenery.
We visit the spectacular Cape Tourville Lighthouse, and enjoy the easy grade walk, one of Tasmania's Great Short Walks, famous for its stunning views of the Freycinet Peninsula.
We re-group ready for the return journey. Our final stop on the East Coast is the stunning Devil’s Corner Winery, where you will have time to take in the magnificent view. On site you can enjoy a wine tasting, wood fired pizza, fresh seafood and Oysters from Freycinet Marine Farm and ice creams all available at own expense on the day.

A lot of driving, but the destinations were worth the time. Our guide was very patient and tailored the walking to the level of the group. Plenty of 'information stops' along the way, and lots of time to take in the panoramic vistas. My highlight was the lunch stop at Honeymoon Bay - truly beautiful.
The hike to Wineglass bay look out and beach was splendid and the views were spectacular. Our tour guide Clinton was friendly, Funny and Knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
Mathew was very friendly & knowledgeable showing us around
A great trip with an enthusiastic guide. Some amazing scenery. I would recommend this trip.
Thank you so much! Wineglass Bay really does speak for itself, but it always helps to have a great guide along for the ride. We'll pass your kind words on. So glad you enjoyed it and we hope to see you back in Tassie again in the future.
Ready to board the bus to go to WineglassBay and Frecinct National Park but told i cannot go because I had a wheelchair. I can get on and off the bus with my crutches but didn't give me a chance. ... Spoke to manager on the phone and she was quite cold and not interested in my situation. We have been on approx 9 tours over the past 11 days, and on all tours i have been allowed to get on and off both bus and boats on my own. Very disappointed so I had to go back to my.motel unit and spend the day on my own. I hope your manager never has to be in a wheelchair to see how people treat you sometimes.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and we're genuinely sorry your day didn't go as you'd hoped. We understand how disappointing that must have been. Tours Tasmania operates small-group active day tours, and as a condition of travel, all participants require reasonable fitness, full mobility, and no mobility aids. These conditions exist not to exclude anyone, but to ensure the safety and well being of every guest, our guides, and the group as a whole, particularly across rugged national park terrain like Freycinet. After 20 years of operation, we are very experienced in understanding the risks and best practices for the locations we travel in. When our guide became aware of your situation on the morning of departure, our team acted quickly. We were communicating with you through the tour guide's phone, and our guide needed to continue the pick-up route as many guests were waiting ahead of the 11-hour day. We apologise if our communication came across as businesslike, it was intended to be clear and efficient given the circumstances, not dismissive of your situation. We'd also gently note that the other tours in your holiday package were operated through Gray Line. These are luxury sightseeing coach experiences and are quite different in nature to our active day tours, in vehicle, terrain, and the physical demands of the day. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Tasmania, and we wish you all the best.
This was a fantastic hike but not for the faint hearted 😀 It will definitely test your fitness, but the views are totally worth it. Wineglass Bay Beach is gorgeous 😍
Great day but lots of walking so do not ignore recommendation for water and good shoes 👟 and offer a helping hand to those slower than you
This was such a cool day trip. Matt made sure we had the right information and highlights at all of the stops. This National Park is truly a gem of Tasmania. The walks were very informative and Matt made sure that each guest had the experience they desired. Great suggestion for lunch too! Thanks for a memorable day Matt.
Matt, our tour guide for the day was great. He stopped on the way to allow us to purchase lunch which he kindly stored in his eski for us. He explained everything clearly, pointed out lots of things on the drive and had a great sense of humour. I was a little worried about the hike up the hill to see the view but it was fine and well worth the effort as the view is beautiful. Matt came with us on the walk and told us stories at different sections. My friend decided not to do it and went to the lodge instead, enjoying the view, a coffee on the deck and a walk around in the bush. Lunch was spent at Honeymoon Bay which was really enjoyable. The stop at the winery on the way back provided lovely scenery of the countryside. All in all it was a great day.
Prepare yourself and get ready to appreciate amazing scenery. This trip is excellent value for everyone.
Thanks for the lovely review. Wineglass Bay and Freycinet really are special places, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
