Tour guide was knowledgeable and helpful. We learned about the sections and history of Soweto. He did not follow the itinerary in the listing. We spent time at the FNB Stadium. We had lunch in Soweto, at extra expense. Mandela House was included in the itinerary, but we paid extra for it. He took us to Apartheid Museum after we insisted, and did not collect a fee for that, saying he was using the money set aside for Mandela House, but then we had only 45 minutes there. He helped with luggage storage, but said the Company paid for it so we had to pay him in cash, but he asked for more than the posted charge
Thank you for your review and for highlighting the parts of the tour you enjoyed, especially the guide’s knowledge and assistance. We would like to clarify a few important details to avoid any misunderstanding: Mandela House Admission: The entrance fee to Mandela House is included in the tour package. However, during your tour, you requested to visit the Apartheid Museum instead — which is not included in the standard package. In response, the guide contacted our office and, with approval, used the funds allocated for Mandela House to cover your entrance to the Apartheid Museum instead. As a result, the cost of visiting Mandela House became your responsibility should you still wish to visit it, since the original allocation was redirected per your preference. Luggage Storage Charges: The luggage storage was arranged and paid for in advance to ensure your convenience. The storage facility applies a surcharge for advance bookings, which explains the higher amount. The guide was reimbursed for this prepayment, and we acknowledge that the process should have been explained more clearly at the time. Tour Itinerary: We acknowledge that the itinerary was not fully followed. We are reviewing this with our team and will ensure our guides clearly communicate any changes and stick closely to the planned route unless otherwise requested by guests. We appreciate your feedback and are committed to improving our service to ensure a clearer and smoother experience for all our guests. Warm regards, Vaya Africa Travels
Provider is not reliable, late by 40 minutes. Maybe all Johannesburg tour operators are late? Also had to pay local guides, was supposed to be included. Not the worst if you only have 4 hours. Either way it is Safe to use these people.
Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the delay and any confusion experienced. Regarding the local guides, they perform for clients voluntarily out of their generosity and are paid directly by guests as a token of appreciation. This is not a mandatory fee included in the tour price. We understand this may not have been clearly communicated, and we will work on improving transparency around this. We appreciate your understanding and your trust in our safety standards. Your feedback is valuable, and we hope to provide you with an even better experience in the future. Warm regards, Vaya Africa Travels
Our guide was great! We learned a lot with him. The museum is a bit boring , Mandela’s house was great and we didn’t even see the last museum because he said that everything we need to know was outside. A friend is his explained the exhibition outside.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're glad to hear that you had a great experience with your guide and enjoyed learning more about our history, especially at Mandela House. We appreciate your feedback about the museum experience. While we understand that different parts of the tour may resonate differently with each guest, we do encourage our guides to balance historical insight with guest interest and energy levels. In this case, the guide aimed to offer a meaningful summary of the final exhibition through the outdoor displays, with support from a knowledgeable local. That said, we’ll take your feedback to heart and ensure future tours include clearer communication around any adjustments made during the itinerary. Thank you again for joining us — we hope to welcome you or your friends back on another experience soon! Warm regards, Vaya Africa Travels

A really recommended tour and a great guide. Absolutely professional and welcoming, he also showed the small details on the way to and in Soweto. You get to see touching and emotional places - and afterwards I understood even better the achievements of the South Africans in their victory over the Apartheid regime.
