Must See

Toshi was an amazing guide. He provided a personal touch to the tour, history and city. The museum was crowded with school children, but it was still a must see visit.

A customizable tour that was great for 2 older couples seeing the sights.

We are 2 couples in our 70's. We don't walk fast, we don't hear well, we are not adept at figuring out the buses in a strange town in a foreign language. So - a professional guide is a great help. Added to that is that we get to meet a local person and hear more about the area than we ever would traveling on our own. And the price, compared to a big HAL bus tour, is quite competitive. We went to the garden - which was beautiful - and Kazuko explained the history and significance of the layout (like climbing Mt. Fuji and the survivor tree) - things I might never have known if I were on my own reading the signs. She then walked us to a bus stop with an incomprehensible to me schedule sign, and told us our bus would be there in 10 minutes, and it was. We went to the Atomic Bomb Dome memorial and she walked us around there. She found a great place for the old folks (us) to rest and get some ice cream. She then led us through the museum, having prepped us about 3 special exhibits she highlighted. The museum had a bigger crush of people than we are used to, it was worse than visiting the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel. Kazuko guided us through the crush and showed us some key exhibits, and got us out of there in one piece. She was great. She got us into a cab headed back to the correct dock for our ship. It made for a perfect day for us. I'm sure younger folks could cover more ground. The tour can be customized to fit the fitness and ambition level of the group you are with.

Thought provoking and uplifting

Our day in Hiroshima was very enjoyable. We met our lovely and knowledgable tour guide Mayumi who greeted us at the Hiroshima train station. Our family of 5 had a private tour and we added the castle and surrounding market/shrine area to the existing itinerary. There was plenty of walking and the hop on/hop off bus made transit easy. Our tour ended up a 5 hour tour, instead of the proposed 4 hours. We could have spent much longer at the museum/final stop. It was a thought provoking and informative day. Mayumi answered so many questions we had and we will never forget our memorable day. We highly recommend the tour.

Operator response

We are so grateful for your high recommendation! It’s wonderful to hear that Mayumi’s knowledge helped make your visit to Hiroshima so meaningful. Thank you for the helpful note about the walking distance and the transit bus—it’s great advice for future families. We’re glad we could extend the tour to 5 hours to give you the time you needed at the final stop. Safe travels!

Family vacation

Our guide, Mayumi, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Just be prepared to walk a lot, we walked over 9 miles that day, with stops of course to see the sights.

Operator response

Thank you so much for your kind words about Mayumi! We’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed her company and expertise. You are absolutely right—our tours are immersive and involve a lot of ground-covering to see the best sights. We appreciate the heads-up for future guests to bring their best walking shoes. We hope your legs have had a chance to recover and that the memories were worth every step!

Hiroshima, a must-visit when in Japan.

We booked the 4 hr Hiroshima private tour a month before departure. A week before flying, Mrs. Minami Koh contacted us through Whatsapp. Mrs. Koh wanted to make sure we knew how to get to the meeting point coming from Tokyo. This was very reassuring and we felt we were in great hands. Upon arrival, our guide - Mrs. Sakamoto - was waiting for us at the Bus station. The trip from Tokyo was very easy and we were happy to meet her. Mrs. Sakamoto spoke perfect English and being a local she was able to share in-depth knowledge about Hiroshima's history and traditions. Our tour focused mainly on the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Park and Museum. But we spent quite a bit of time at the incredibly beautiful Shukkei-en Garden. While traveling from one place to another with Mrs. Sakamoto we couldn't help but notice the beauty all around us and how much Hiroshima has to offer. I wish we had stayed longer... We are grateful Mrs. Sakamoto was very patient with us and shared so much information.

Operator response

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful experience. It truly means a lot to us. I’m very glad to hear that our communication before your trip helped you feel reassured—we always want our guests to feel completely supported, even before they arrive in Hiroshima. We’re delighted that your tour with Mrs. Sakamoto was memorable. Her deep local knowledge, perfect English, and warm personality make her an exceptional guide, and we’re so happy she was able to share Hiroshima’s history, traditions, and beauty with you. Shukkei-en Garden is indeed a special place, and it’s lovely to hear how much you enjoyed it alongside the Peace Memorial Park and Dome. Thank you also for your kind words about her patience and the insights she provided throughout the tour. Hiroshima has so much to offer, and we would be honored to welcome you back someday so you can explore even more. Warmest regards, Minami
