【A Note on the Peace Memorial Museum】 We strategically do not conduct guided tours inside the Peace Memorial Museum. We believe the museum experience is deeply personal, requiring silence and private reflection. We highly recommend visiting the museum at your own pace after the tour. Pancho’s Role: Before you enter the museum, Pancho will provide in-depth historical context and moving narratives at the Dome and Cenotaph, ensuring you enter the museum with a much richer understanding and personal connection to the history. Flexibility for Day-Trippers: If you are on a tight schedule (e.g., day trip from Kyoto/Osaka) and wish to prioritize the museum, we can adjust the itinerary and ensure you are dropped off efficiently (e.g., taxi to Hiroshima Station) after your experience.

Can't go wrong with Pancho!

We spent the day with Pancho and it was fabulous! He picked us up at the train station and immediately felt like a friend. We really appreciated him sharing his family's history with us. It is unique to have such a personal connection to the history and you can tell it is really part of who he is. He was great at answering questions and making conversation. He has a good command of English and is easy to understand. Pancho was very helpful to get us to Miyajima and give us suggestions for things to see. It was a lovely day and you won't regret booking with Pancho!

Moving day in Hiroshima

We had a wonderful time exploring these two areas. As a native of Hiroshima Pancho was able to share his personal family experience with us which we appreciated. The Peace Museum and park were moving and highly informative; those are must-see sites. We enjoyed our day with Pancho and recommend him as your guide!

Hiroshima with Pancho and His Unique History

We love Pancho!! His personal ties to the history of Hiroshima adds such a personal and unique touch to his tour. He’s very knowledgeable and took us to historic sites that we wouldn’t have known about on our own. He is easy to talk with, and feels like a friend. We really appreciated the time he took to answer our questions, and share his family’s story. He also made the transition to Miyajima very smooth for our large family. I highly recommend Pancho!!

I’m especially happy to hear that you enjoyed not only the history and stories we shared, but also the conversations throughout the day. One of my favorite parts of guiding is answering questions and helping guests experience Hiroshima in a personal and meaningful way. Thank you as well for your kind words about my family’s story and for trusting me to help coordinate such a large family group. I’m glad the day felt smooth and enjoyable for everyone. It truly means a lot to hear that I felt more like a friend than a guide. Thank you again, and I wish you and your family many wonderful adventures ahead. Warm regards, Pancho

Highly recommend Pancho for your next private tour.

Our guide Pancho was outstanding. We were a group of 6 that booked a private tour to allow flexibility with our sightseeing itinerary. Pancho did a great job setting up the tour to fit our needs. His personal touch and excellent English made our tour memorable. He took us to a restaurant to let us taste one of his favorite foods and it was fantastic. His personal stories of his family and his life in Japan were very touching and appreciated. I’ve been traveling the world for over 20 years and Pancho is one of the best tour guides I’ve had. Highly recommend him.

Hi Randy, thank you so much for your kind review. It was a pleasure spending the day with your group and creating an itinerary that matched your interests and pace. I’m especially happy to hear that you enjoyed the conversations, personal stories, and the opportunity to try one of my favorite local foods(as unofficial ambassador of Okonomiyaki). Sharing those small personal touches is one of my favorite parts of guiding. Your words mean a great deal to me, especially knowing that you have traveled extensively around the world. To be considered one of the best guides you have experienced is truly an honor. Thank you again for your trust and for sharing the day with me. I wish all six of you many more wonderful adventures in the future, and I hope our paths cross again someday. Warm regards, Pancho

The best day tour that you can find!

Such an incredible experience! Our guide, Pancho, is incredible and has such a unique and knowledgeable perspective on both Hiroshima and Miyajima island. Timing was perfect with great food recommendations, and such a deep knowledge and connection to the intense history of both places. I’ve done this tour multiple times with him and it never disappoints!

Operator response

Hi Hunter, thank you for your warm comment for the tour we had. That was incredible experience to me having you! Yes, all the timing was perfect, such as rain, tempreture and even a Miyajima island view covered by the clouds was a stunning view! Hiroshima part was something powerful, but we somehow enjoyed the part with positive ways. Thank you again, Pancho

5-stars for Pancho and an Incredible Day

★★★★★ Our day trip from Kyoto to Hiroshima and Miyajima Island was one of the absolute highlights of our trip, thanks to our wonderful guide, Pancho. I was initially concerned that trying to see both destinations in a single day from Kyoto would feel rushed or overwhelming, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Pancho brought Hiroshima’s history to life with incredible knowledge, perspective, and sensitivity. The history is undeniably powerful and emotional, and his thoughtful insights helped us gain a much deeper understanding and appreciation of what we were seeing. He struck the perfect balance between sharing important historical context and making the experience engaging and personal. And don’t miss Miyajima! The island’s beauty, charm, and peaceful atmosphere were the perfect way to end the day. Wandering through its quaint streets and taking in the stunning scenery provided a wonderful contrast to the morning’s historical experiences. Pancho planned and paced the entire day flawlessly, making it feel comfortable, meaningful, and memorable from start to finish. We would highly recommend him to anyone visiting Japan and looking for an exceptional guide. This was truly a five-star experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hi barbfam, thank you so much for your 5-star review which makes me really happy and proud to being a tour guide here in Hiroshima. We enjoyed tour together not only guiding from my side, but also reciprocate conversations during tour. It's sometimes hard to hadle the balance between the Peace memorial park and Miyajima island, and glad to hear from you feel the good balance of 2 different place and themes. Thanks for your recommendation too. The only thing I miss was having "Lemon-sour" with you, but hoping sometime near future! Thank you, Pancho

A great visit

We had an excellent day today with Poncho. As it was raining, he drove us rather than a walking tour for which we were grateful. We heartily recommend his services.

Pancho was the best guide! Highly recommend!

Pancho was an amazing guide- super communicative before our trip and even helped me figure out local ferry schedule for our return the next day since we stayed overnight at Miyajima. Hw met us at the Shinkansen (at our car) and provided amazing service from beginning to end! He is a local expert and his grandfather is a survivor of the atomic bomb. He was also able to speak from personal perspective about how local residents feel about Americans (no ill will) and how kids in Hiroshima have been taught since a young age to promote peace, and both perspectives on Japan’s role as well as US’ role and how both countries played a part. We weren’t sure how Americans would be received specifically in this part of Japan. He also took us to have local okonomiyaki with oysters, and to 7-11 at my husband’s request for the smooth vending machine. On Miyajima island, he arranged for our hotel shuttle to meet us at the port and take our luggage so we can tour with him without extra stuff. He took us to the famous floating Torii gate and then to Daoshoin temple- which we had never even heard of- but ended up being our favorite because of how beautiful and mystical it was! Highly recommend Pancho!

Hi Jennifer, Thank you so much for this incredibly thoughtful review! It means the world to me that you felt welcomed and comfortable exploring Hiroshima. I'm glad I could share not only the historical sites but also my family's story and the local perspective on peace and reconciliation. These conversations are deeply important to me, and I'm honored you were open to hearing them. I'm thrilled that some stops in Daisho-in Temple was your favorite - it's a hidden gem that many visitors miss! And of course, the okonomiyaki with oysters and even the 7-11 stop(punch the monkey as well) are all part of experiencing Hiroshima like a local. Coordinating the ferry schedule and hotel shuttle was my pleasure - I want you to enjoy every moment without stress and happy to hear that you made it. Thank you for trusting me with your time in Hiroshima, and I hope you carry wonderful memories of Miyajima and our beautiful city. Wishing you safe travels and hope to welcome you back someday! Thank you again, Pancho
