The Dome, once a graceful sight, was left in ruins by the heat rays and shock waves of the atomic bomb. Although there were calls for its demolition during the reconstruction of the city, the A-bomb Dome, which tells the story of the damage caused by the atomic bomb, was left behind as a legacy of humanity.
There is a cenotaph to comfort the spirits of the atomic bomb survivors at a place overlooking the A-bomb Dome.
The museum tells the story of Hiroshima and its people before the atomic bombing, and the impact of the bombing on them. The archives quietly tell the story of Hiroshima as it was on that day.
Take a ferry to Miyajima and Itsukushima Shrine.
Go to the shrine floating on the sea. The vermilion shrine is a beautiful sight against the blue of the sea.
The approach to Itsukushima Shrine is lined with many stores, making it a shopping street. Visitors can enjoy various gourmet specialties of Hiroshima

Gordon really looked after us - he was really good at explaining the history & events that led up to the bombing, & the devastation that ensued. Also had many stories about life in Japan. Being originally from Canada he was so easy to understand. Would highly recommend this tour especially with Gordon.

This tour is amazing - a must do if you visit Hiroshima. Gordon our guide was so knowledgable on Hiroshima and Miyajima Island. He was very friendly, looked after us so well and we learnt so much about the area and an added bonus of learning a lot about Japanese culture.
