Itinerary

60 min

Our electric bikes offer an effortless way to ride up steep hills, providing a unique and enjoyable experience for our guests. Even those who have never ridden an Ebike before will be amazed by its power and stability. Once at the top, visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the town of Oasa and the surrounding countryside, which is particularly impressive due to the mountainous terrain. Despite its stunning scenery, this place is rarely visited by the locals. One of the reasons why this tour is so special is that not many people come to this site. However, our guests have praised this picturesque location for its beauty and uniqueness.

60 min

This area is home to a picturesque farming community that has retained its traditional appearance from the past. The community is made up of quaint houses, numerous rice fields, streams teeming with wildlife and hidden gems that tourists rarely get to see. Cycling around the community is fun in itself, but we can also stop at certain locations to immerse ourselves in Japanese culture, making the journey even more special by learning about the lives of the locals, which are centered around agriculture.

60 min

As part of our journey we will stop for lunch at the Aino Sato Herb Garden. This restaurant serves a variety of fresh and locally grown vegetables and edible flowers that are completely free of harmful pesticides. You will be pleasantly surprised at how delicious these natural foods taste. The restaurant is also committed to using only natural ingredients and avoiding the use of additives in their dishes. There is also a vegan-friendly menu available on request with advance notice. After our meal, we can take a leisurely stroll through their garden to appreciate the beauty of the flowers, herbs and vegetables grown there.

60 min

Oasa's main street, once a bustling hub of people and shops, is now quiet and unhurried. The old buildings that remain are a testament to the town's past prosperity. Despite this, there are still a handful of shops on the street that cater to the needs of people from both inside and outside Oasa. It would be fascinating to explore these businesses and perhaps meet and interact with their owners. Learning about their passions and aspirations could have a positive impact on your life.

Get immersed in rural Japan!

Great way to experience rural Japan. We found it very relaxing, away from the hustle and bustle of the major cities. Jonah was very open to our many questions as he loved to share his beautiful community with us. We highly recommend this gentle ride in the country.

Excellent and highly recommended for those seeking natural and real Japan

What a wonderful fun, nature filled , Japan rich experience. We saw rural and real Japan out of the big cities and towns which I was desperate for and I wasn’t disappointed. Our guide Jonah was fabulous and speaks excellent English. He went the extra mile and came and picked us up from the port . The highlight apart from the amazing scenery and great company was lunch. What an absolute gem. All freshly grown and to eat a slice of mushroom that takes two years to grow felt like a huge indulgence and privilidge. Thank you so much Jonah.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I had a great time too, and I felt like I was spending time with old friends from start to finish. It was a real privilege to guide you through the Oasa community and share those small encounters along the way. I’ll certainly let the chef know how much you enjoyed lunch. Thank you again, and I hope the rest of your trip is filled with meaningful moments and joy.

Experience not to be missed!

Wow what a great experience we had with Jonah. We rode around the farmland and township of Oaso. Jonah was very knowledgeable about the town and local area. We met a 93 year old farmer who was so friendly and chatted with us about his life and experiences. We also had a lesson in making sushi. Our teacher was amazing and the meal was fabulous. A real highlight. Jonah’s instructions regarding getting the bus to the township were exact. The hour bus ride was enjoyable and allowed us to view the landscape of forests, small villages and farmlands. The bikes were electric so peddling was easy. The weather wasn’t great but didn’t diminish the experience. Highly recommend this experience.

I had a great time with you, too! Thank you so much for joining the tour. I'm glad to hear that you liked the sushi and the other activities and people on the tour. I hope the rest of your trip is pleasant and fun. Cheers from Oasa!

Amazing Experience with Jonah, Takahiro, and Fuji-san!

We had the best time with Jonah on this bike tour in Kita-Hiroshima. Our 84 yr old father was with us and unable to ride so Jonah set up for him to ride in a car and meet us at stopping points. Turns out the driver was the owner of the company! Even though he only spoke Japanese, our dad loved spending the day with Takahiro. We also did a sushi making lunch with another of their employees named Fuji-san and she was just as great. Lastly Jonah took us to a sake brewery where we got to meet the town brew master and taste some great water and sake. The whole day was amazing and such a cool experience. Our 2 teenagers (14 and 16) said it was the highlight of our entire Japan trip! Jonahs kindness, communication, and accommodations were greatly appreciated. It was a quick and easy bus ride out with great scenery of the countryside. We will definitely recommend this to everyone heading to Hiroshima.

He loved his time with your father so much! We were all happy to meet you on our tour. Hearing that our tour was the highlight of your trip means more than anything. Thank you again for a wonderful time!

Ōasa (大朝) — a must-do in Hiroshima

Contrary to "city stress", I was able to switch off a bit in the beautiful landscape of 大朝 (Oasa). Also the food in the herb garden was excellent! In addition, I can recommend everyone in the area to take time for the Chinese Tea House. The tour is well structured with certain individualization options. Travelling by bus also worked without any problems and can be paid for directly with the IC card. Will definitely come back!

I'm truly flattered by your kind review in German. I needed it translated into English, and thankfully, that wasn’t a problem with ChatGPT. The tour felt like riding alongside an old friend—I enjoyed it so much, and I hope you did too. Thank you for your lovely compliment about the teahouse; I’ll be sure to pass it on to the owner. Wishing you all the very best for the rest of your journey, and I hope we’ll meet again someday. Please do keep in touch!

Authentic insight into Japanese life away from the crowds of tourists

By JR Chugoku Bus (comfortable bus; free for JR Pass holders) it takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Hiroshima Station to get to the meeting point. During the bus ride you can enjoy nature away from the city of Hiroshima. Arriving at the meeting point, you are already expected by the guide Jonah. Jonah speaks very good English and is extremely friendly and accommodating! The e-bikes are then issued and instructed. I don't want to reveal the exact content of the tour here but it's worth it! You can explore the surrounding area in a small group of relaxed whites and get an insight into rural Japanese life and agriculture. All questions about land and people are answered willingly and comprehensively by Jonah. Initially we were skeptical, but can highly recommend the tour and would do it again at any time. Perfect for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the cities for a day.

Wishing you all the best in everything ahead—and don’t forget about us!

Highly Recommend

I highly recommend this bicycling tour. It was definitely the highlight of our trip! The town we rode through is absolutely beautiful, and Jonah was an excellent guide. His English is perfect, and we learned so much from him. He gave information and told stories about the different places and landmarks along the way, and it was a great way to learn more about Japanese culture outside the touristy areas. We met several people from the community along the tour, and they were all so interesting and fun to get to know. The lunch in the middle was amazing as well! The chef put so much love into her food, and she was able to accommodate my food allergies. It was the best meal we had in Japan! Thanks so much, Jonah, for an amazing day!

Great tour guide and beautiful countryside

Great time with Jonah, (he's actually Japanese!) who speaks perfect English. e-bikes were adequate for getting up the big hills. Great scenery and lucky enough to meet some of the residents and businesses in Oasa. Lunch was one the highlights. Next time we will visit in the fall when we can see some color. It would be amazing. Their shuttle van came and got us at the bus top from Hiroshima and took us directly to the bike shop. Bikes were easy to operate. Hardly any cars around so navigating the streets was safe. There were multiple outings we could have done, and Jonah noted, after describing all of the things you can see, that we could alter our tour to see something else if we wanted. Would recommend this biking tour of Oasa and the surrounding area. It was also nice to be able to support local operators who personally have a stake in the business.
