Arrived in Hiroshima early morning from Osaka via the Shinkansen bullet train which was approximately a 90 minute trip. My guide Pancho met me at the Hiroshima train station and it was great to have the flexibility to mix things up as I needed a coffee and another breakfast and then rather than heading out on foot we jumped in a taxi to ground zero. It was a rich and informative day of mixed emotions that was proffesionly presented by Pancho. I appreciated his sharing of knowledge and his excellent command of english. This was my wifes idea of utilising the tourbylocals and having a one one tour to ensure that it met all my needs. It was definitely the best decision and I had the best guide for the best experience.
Hi Shane, thank you so much for your warm comment and coming all the way from Osaka to join this tour, really appreciated! Yes, I like meetup at the cafe in Hiroshima station, grab coffee/breakfast, chatting for a while to get to know each other more makes tour more engaging. Thank you for mention about my profession, command of English that will provides informations more in a short time, easy to communicate. I should say thank you for your wife to booking my tour:-) I'm really happy to hear that was great experience, hoping see you again. Have a fun in your next stop! Thank you, Pancho(Tetsuo)

The place we stopped is something unique and related to history of Hiroshima. Thanks again, Pancho
We had an excellent tour this morning with Pancho. His local expertise and personal/family insights were most interesting and helpful. While we could never learn about Hiroshima’s history and culture in a few days, our tour with Pancho was a great first step. I would recommend Pancho to anyone traveling on Hiroshima.
Hi edshino, Thank you for your comment for this tour and glad you enjoyed it. It was fun to me too having you as a guest, enjoyed a lot of chat(such as 80's basketball) boost the tour. Thank you for your recommendation, hope we'll catch up and have a nice trip more! Thank you, Pancho
Exploring Hiroshima with Pancho is truly a gift. He not only knows the history behind every corner, but also shares moving testimonies from his own family that make the whole experience unforgettable. I had visited the city a few years ago, but seeing it through the eyes of such an experienced guide added a whole new depth and meaning to my visit. He even introduced me to a delicious okonomiyaki at a local spot I would have never found on my own! Pancho's warmth, knowledge, and passion for his hometown's history turn a simple tour into a deeply enriching experience!
Thank you Inma, for your wonderful feedback for the tour we had. I'm happy to hear this tour makes you Hiroshima feel deeper through me. I really appreciated you mentioned our comfort food Okonomiyaki-Hiroshima style as an unofficial ambassador:-) Thanks again for describe myself that is really happy to hear, and proud to hear last phrase!! Muchos Gracias, Pancho
Our family immensely enjoyed our walking tour with “Pancho” (Tetsuo Hamano). A son of A-bomb survivors, he injected personal insight into our tour of the Peace Garden and local monuments (and taught us to make origami cranes), and helpfully answered all our questions – setting us up well for our moving visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Highly recommended.
Hi Brian, really appreciate for your great feedback! Now I look back my photo and remember that day. Origami-experience and Q&A that makes boost tour fun, I really love it. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the tour not only sad history in here, but also felt people's resilience and effort to recover from it. Thank you again for joining, Pancho
We had an unforgettable half-day walking tour with Pancho, a knowledgeable, compassionate, and deeply thoughtful local guide. From the start, Pancho brought Hiroshima’s history to life with compassion and insight. He shared not only historical facts but also his own family’s experience during and after the bombing, which added a deeply personal and emotional layer to the tour. We visited several major landmarks including the Peace Memorial Park and Atomic Bomb Dome. Pancho also took us to other sites that survived the blast including a school and bank. He guided us through making an origami crane, explaining its symbolism of peace and healing and which got an opportunity to donate at the Children’s Peace Monument. It was a powerful and moving moment. Pancho also recommended excellent local food options, including a delicious vegan and pork-free version of Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki—perfect for our dietary needs. As we parted ways, he kindly gave us tips for exploring Miyajima Island the next day. Beyond the history, we were struck by Hiroshima’s natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and resilience. This tour gave us a much deeper understanding of the city and its people. Highly recommend!
Thank you AHA(of course I know who you're), for your recommendation, and feedback. I'm glad to hear/proud you enjoyed the tour not only historical part, but also our local food and origami-experience too! Really happy to hear you liked Hiroshima, my hometown and told what a beautiful city was make me really happy. What I really happy was we met at Miyajima island on the next day of the tour, that was a short, but precious moment to me. Thanks again for joining tour, and your feedback. Have a nice trip! Pancho
Pancho is engaging, knowledgeable and his love for his home city, Hiroshima, shines through. He is patient while also ensuring we cover the planned itinerary and more. Pancho helped us navigate the logistics of the rail system, taxis, and what to do in Kyoto as well as suggesting local restaurants , and even translated for us during our hotel check in process. We also signed up for the Miyajima island tour and UNESCO Itsukushima Shrine with Pancho because of his deep knowledge and appreciation for the region !
Thank you MadgeBoston, for your comment. Apologies for late reply that I thought I've already replied it, but it wasn't. I'm really glad to hear that my local experience help your visit productive/memorable. Thanks again for leave your comment, hope you enjoyed more in other your stops. Pancho
Pancho gave me a great overview of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and brought me to a number of former bomb sites and landmarks away from the tourist circuit which revealed personal stories (including his family's) of the lives lost and forever changed by the tragic event. We also visited the Peace Memorial Park, where I learnt more about the events that ravaged ground zero. I'm glad I took this tour before I visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum at Pancho's recommendation.
Thank you Rachel for your great message. It was great time to me not only as a tour guide, but also a local in Hiroshima. I'm glad to hear from you that was something meaningful. I enjoyed chatting with you during tour so many subjects, not only for Peace, Hiroshima related. Thank you, Pancho
