Half day Gorreana - Pedestrian Walk and Tea Tasting (Min. 2 persons)

Highly recommended tour! The guide walked us through the process from leaf to cup. We sampled several teas and we viewed the tea plantation. The hike in the plantation takes you through terraced areas where you can see tea growing. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about the tea factory and the island. Great morning!

My wife Emily and I loved this walk through the Gorreana Tea Plantation. Our guide, Miguel, was kind, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the region—he brought the history of the plantation and the tea-making process to life in a really engaging way. The hike itself was peaceful and scenic, with sweeping views of the lush tea fields and the coastline beyond. Afterward, we toured the factory and enjoyed tasting some of the locally grown teas, which was a perfect way to cap the experience. If you're looking for a calm, culturally rich outing on São Miguel, this one is a must.

André was prompt to pick us up @ our hotel. He was friendly and genuine. His knowledge of the history, topography, flora and fauna of just about everything on St. Miguel was impressive! Our 1/2 day private tour and hike seemed to end as soon as it began with a constant flow of valuable informative about the history of the island and production of tea at Gorreana plantation. We could not have asked for a better hiking and tour guide. You need to bottle André!

My wife and I were looking for an excursion that offered a nice hike and something that we had not done before. We got both. Andre was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and enjoyable.

This was a must see stop on our honeymoon itinerary and it did not disappoint. What an amazing time and it was truly made special by Big Blues tour guide Vasco. Such a friendly person that made us feel at home. Gave us great history and education about the tea and if you visit from April-Nov you will have a good chance of seeing the workers harvest the tea. The tasting is not a sit down tasting as some expect but the tea is phenomenal. The factory is filled with equipment that has been working for over 100 years old. Big Blue adventures will even pick you up from your hotel if you are staying in the Ponta Delgada area. If not, they will meet you across the street from the parking lot at the beginning of the trail. The views from the top of the trail are some of my favorite in the azores! (The trail is steep so I wouldn’t recommend it for people with back problems or knee problems or people that have a hard time walking) Otherwise, you are going to love it!

What a wonderful experience!!! We had a very knowledgeable guide with incredible enthusiasm. Just so fun! Starts off with a short hike through the tea fields then a factory tour.

Our guide, Miguel, was very personable, knowledgeable and patient. He was a wealth of information on not only the tea plantation, but also on other information about Sao Miguel. We enjoyed the hike up to the top of the plantation. Miguel was very accommodating with stopping to rest, to get water, and to take photos. The tea factory was great to visit. We sipped two kinds of tea, and purchased tea to take home from the gift shop. The ride back to the hotel included the sharing of more tidbits of information on Sao Miguel. I would highly recommend the Big Blue tour company and specifically Miguel.
