Description

This excursion is unique because we will visit two iconic places in the Azores, Lagoa do Fogo is the second largest on the island of São Miguel and one of the largest in the Azores. It has been classified as a nature reserve since 1974 and is part of the Natura 2000 Network for being classified as a special conservation area. Lagoa das Sete Cidades is very likely the most iconic and recognized natural monument in the Azores. In a region with such a large number of striking landscapes, the image of Sete Cidades is chosen countless times to represent or promote the island of São Miguel and the archipelago. Named one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal and classified as a Protected Landscape by the Natura 2000 Network, the Sete Cidades are a unique place in the world, which any traveler passing through these islands must visit.

A great tour of the west side of Sao Miguel

Wonderful tour of the west side of Sao Miguel Island. Diogo was our guide and did such a great job. He knew so much history of the Island as he grew up there. It was a nice small tour with seven people. We were taken to several key spots with great views, and also enjoyed the lunch.. Thank you!

There is a lot to see, but everything depends on the weather. The views are spectacular when the fog lifts.

Not an English friendly tour, and itinerary not followed

This was a great tour, with great points of interest. However, the itinerary outlined in the tour description was not followed - we did not do the liquor tasting and there are other stops that we didn’t do, or I’m not sure if we did - I was a solo traveller and was in the van for 6 other travelers from Brazil, all speaking Portuguese, no English. The guide tended to speak more Portuguese than English. He did translate some things to me, but not everything - I really felt out of the loop. I didn’t understand where we were stopping and what I was seeing. Lunch was very isolating as I could not engage in conversation. This was a full day tour, and I was actually looking forward for it to end. The guide was nice, I’m sure he did the best he could, but he did cater to the Portuguese speaking tourists (I do empathize that this is his native language).

Operator response

If the guide has 6 people from brazil with you 7, the van goes up to 8 people, 6 brazilians he has to talk 6 time more português you are only one, its six people making questions, are you stupid, next time stay at home.
