It was very enjoyable but not for 8 and 12 year old. Our driver knew her history and was a good driver. A little too folksy and chatty for me 🤷♀️
We had the best time with Brandon. He was so engaging and had the best stories about the city! Perfect amount of walking and talking
We booked a Grayline bus tour of old Charleston (there are several other lines that operate the same basic route). Meeting the bus was easy, we were very comfortable, and our driver/tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Our tour guide John was absolutely phenomenal. He was a perfect combination of funny, educational, and historian. This tour was great because we got to see everything from the battery to the historic area, both sides of the river but you don’t get with a walking tour. There wasn’t a question we asked that he didn’t know the answer to. Every street was packed with historical facts, stories about architecture, history, and the city and the war. My ticket included a ticket to the museum, which was quite phenomenal. Don’t hesitate book now.
Thank you for the fantastic review! We’re so happy to hear John made your experience so memorable with his knowledge, humor, and storytelling. It’s wonderful to know you enjoyed both the tour and museum experience, we truly appreciate the recommendation!
We tried to go to the museum the day before our bus tour. We did not realize that our museum ticket was given to us at the tour bus.
Went well n affordable xxxxxxxx
The bus driver/tour guide was very informative and entertaining! Very patient with traffic (foot and vehicle) and passengers. Enjoyed the tour! Parking adjacent in structure since lot at visitor center was full. Would recommend to do for a good feel of the City. Lots of history and awesome architectural houses to see.
It was a great tour I wish I remembered our guide's name I can't but he was super knowledgeable he said he was obsessed with history and he knew everything literally I used to live here and they were things I didn't know that I learned today
You gain so much information and see many parts of Charleston in 90 minutes. John was a great guide and we also went to Charleston Museum which was very interesting
My husband and I both love history and thought we would get a little bit more of that on this tour. In addition, there was a food and wine festival going on the same weekend and the normal meeting place was the visitor center, and when we tried to follow the directions on where to go on meeting Street, they basically told us that that parking lot was closed. You would think you would receive some sort of notification about an alternative location that the bus would be picking us up from, but never received any message from the tour operator or from TripAdvisor. The tour operator said that I may not have gotten the message because it was booked from a third-party which I thought was a ridiculous excuse. When we called the tour operator, we were rescheduled on another tour at noon for the same meeting point where we supposedly were supposed to take our earlier tour, I wasn’t feeling very confident so I called again and another person told us that the meeting location had changed to the Charleston museum. Very frustrating because it messed up the only day we had because we were originally booked at 10:30 but had to go later. The operator accommodated us doing the Charleston museum tour first before our rescheduled bus tour at 12 which was nice.
