Itinerary

10 min

The Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 metres (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for many modern ships. From high up, you can enjoy the best view of Corinth's isthmus and admire the steep limestone walls while you observe the vessels below you navigate their way through the canal.

Corinth was a city-state on the Isthmus of Corinth, the narrow stretch of land that joins the Peloponnese to the mainland of Greece, roughly halfway between Athens and Sparta. The modern city of Corinth is located approximately 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northeast of the ancient ruins. For Christians, Corinth is well known from the two letters of Saint Paul in the New Testament, First and Second Corinthians. Corinth is also mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles as part of Paul the Apostle's missionary travels. In addition, the second book of Pausanias' Description of Greece is devoted to Corinth. Ancient Corinth was one of the largest and most important cities of Greece, with a population of 90,000 in 400 BC. The Romans demolished Corinth in 146 BC, built a new city in its place in 44 BC, and later made it the provincial capital of Greece.

20 min

Ancient Corinth is dominated by the hill of Acrocorinth, the oldest and largest castle in southern Greece. Acrocorinth was continuously occupied from archaic times to the early 19th century. With its secure water supply, Acrocorinth's fortress was repeatedly used as a last line of defense in southern Greece because it commanded the Isthmus of Corinth, repelling foes from entry by land into the Peloponnese peninsula. Visit the ruins and take great photos of the Peloponnesian landscape.

60 min

Visit one of the oldest olive oil mills (1932). Four generations of family tradition in extra virgin olive oil production is unveiled in front of your eyes! Walk around our old olive groves, where the first olive tree of the family was planted by our great grandfather. Step into ancestors’ paths, on the ancient Solygeia soils where the sacred olive tree has survived through the centuries! Enjoy the spectacular view of the Saronic gulf and the surrounding hills and admire the natural beauty of this region! Have a guided tour to the facilities of the olive oil mill and taste different extra virgin olive oils through an interactive olive oil seminar full of secrets. There is also a virtual reality video presentation. Wearing the virtual reality mask you will have the opportunity to live an unforgettable experience watching a video with all the stages of cultivation, production & bottling of extra virgin olive oil.

Relaxing and full of history with a great driver!

Our trip was fantastic. Our driver Harry was very friendly and very knowledgeable. He made us feel like family, and we enjoyed hearing all about Greek culture. We had a great time throughout our day and got plenty of time at each stop. This tour was the perfect combination of activities. The private tour was great for the two of us. Very relaxing environment! I highly recommend booking this tour!

Olive Oil and the countryside!

The Corinth + Olive Oil Tasting tour was a real treat. The ride out to Corinth was relaxing and it was really neat to see some smaller towns outside of Athens. The olive oil farm and tour was the real star. It felt like a boutique experience and the local olive oil was delicious. Great experience away from busy Athens.

Excellent tour during our stay in Athens.

The ruins at Corinth were fascinating and it was fun to see an up and running olive oil business. Our driver went above and beyond to show us around and point out sites.

Great day!

Wonderful day! Our driver and guide were great. I would suggest a little more time at Corinth acropolis. And a little less time at Corinth ruins.
