Itinerary
Our adventure begins at Vaihu, a sacred site where a series of fallen Moai still resonate with the echo of their powerful past. The ocean wind will be your soundtrack as you explore this intriguing archaeological site.
From Vaihu, we move on to Akahanga, where kings once ruled. Here, you will see an Ahu (ceremonial platform) with twelve Moai, and you can stroll through the ruins of ancient dwellings, providing an unforgettable glimpse into the traditional Rapa Nui lifestyle.
We continue on to Rano Raraku, also known as the "Moai Quarry." This is the birthplace of the Moai, where over 400 of these majestic statues remain unfinished, scattered on the mountain slopes. The panoramic view of the quarry and the crater lake will leave you breathless.
The next stop is Tongariki, home to the island's largest and most impressive Ahu. Here, fifteen Moai stand tall against the backdrop of the Pacific blue, offering a spectacular view that symbolizes the power and engineering of the ancient Rapa Nui civilization.
Next, we will visit Te Pito Kura, the site of the largest Moai ever successfully relocated and the mysterious magnetic stone, known as the "Navel of the World." Immerse yourself in the legends and mystique that surround this sacred place.
Finally, we conclude our journey at the idyllic Anakena beach, a tropical paradise with palm trees and crystal-clear waters. Here you can enjoy a relaxing swim, reflect on the wonders you have seen, and feel the energy of this ancient and mysterious land.

The tour was as advertised and the places were amazing to see. The guide seem knowledgeable and could answer the questions that I had. The tour was in both English and Spanish, even though we had booked an English tour. The guide spoke at length in Spanish and gave us only a brief summary in English. I felt like I was getting less of a tour than the Spanish speakers.
Not so friendly guide, being rude to some of the people of the group. Very few details of each site visited
If you are looking to learn more about the history and culture of Rapa Nui, this is a great excursion to get a taste. This is a half day tour and a great opportunity to see the main sights of the island. Also shout out to Kino (tour guide) for being very kind and knowledgeable about the history of the island, and also to Estevan (driver) for also being very nice!
The excursion was a little short because they cut a part because it rained. On this island it rains frequently. The guide has explained very little.
Wonderful experience! It was my first tour on the island and could not have been better. Our guide (Tao) was super attentive, cheerful and gave us a lot of important information to know more deeply the history of the island and the people of Rapanui. I indicate too much to everyone!
It was an awesome experience. Route and story telling were good. Our guide Emilie was very professional.
I did 3 tours with Hotumatur and all very well, I was picked up at the hotel and the guides: Emilia, Soe and Fernando, very charismatic, worried about each passenger and with a lot of knowledge of each place. Thank you very much for the experience
I have just returned from one of the best tours on the island and I still have goose bumps, so I feel a moral obligation to pass this on to you because my trip would not have been half as amazing without the people of Hotumatur. If you are planning to go to the island and don’t book with them, I really tell you that you will be left with only the surface of what is this magical place. From the moment I set foot at the airport, the logistics were impeccable and I completely forgot about the schedules and the stress because they have everything under control with a warmth that makes you feel like you arrived at the house of some friends of your life. But what really blew my mind was the human factor; they are not guides who repeat a boring libretto, they are wonderful people (especially Enzo and emilia) who carry the culture in their blood and tell you the legends of the moai with a passion that excites you to tears. We took the dawn tour in Ahu Tongariki and to see the sun rise behind those 15 giant figures was a mystical experience that I will never forget, especially for the details and respect they give to each sacred site. We also made Rano Raraku and ended up on Anakena Beach, which is literally a paradise of white sand and palm trees where you are taken care of in every detail. In addition, if you are looking for something beyond the ordinary, you have to ask about your personalized experiences such as riding to the Terevaka or diving trips, because the team that works there is from another planet, super professional and with infinite patience. They solve any doubts on WhatsApp instantly and are watching to make every photo perfect and every moment special. Don’t waste time comparing agencies that are just looking to fill a bus; if you want to live the true essence of Polynesia and be treated as a family, Hotumatur is the only real option. Book with them with your eyes closed, I swear it's the best decision you can make to make your trip to the island forever life-changing.
Great tour with all the essential sights. We especially liked the last stop at Anakena Beach, be sure to pack bathing suits.
We had a good experience with the tour. There was a slight mixup with the pickup but nothing major. Emilia was very knowledgeable and did a great job.
