I couldn't have asked for a better two days. Hit almost every one of the sights I was looking to see. And there was so much info to observe it was close to mind boggling.
First day excellent. Emelia was a great guide. Mostly English speakers so tour was all in English. 11-12 people in group size. 2nd day., only 4 English speakers. Group size was 12. Felt like 2 separate tours. Gave Spanish first and English 2nd.
Got to see a lot of the moai and hear about its history. beware there is a lot of walking and up hill and another part long walk down into a cave. The first part of the tour day one we got some bathroom breaks and time to get something to drink or eat plus lunch at our own expense. But the second day part 2 no bathroom breaks or something to drink or eat.
Great two days of touring, with the second days guide Esteban, being very engaging, full of energy, knowledge and enthusiasm. Definitely book
Absolutely amazing!! I was on the 2 days tour on 4th and 5th of March 2026 and it was excelent! Our guide was Jeremias, he is so frendly and cool, answered of all of my questions and gives lots of information! I definitely recccomend them!!
Very good, Jeremiah the guide has been a wonderful help for his knowledge and for his closeness and for everything he has transmitted to us of the moai culture
Our guide, Enzo was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Bus driver (name began with G) was GREAT -- helped my wife avoid a nasty sudden rainstorm. However, our group had English speakers and Spanish speakers, so we all had to sit through the others' narrations. Also, Enzo narrated the features of each stop while we were walking to and from the sights. If you weren't always at his side, you would miss some -- sometimes much -- of what was said. It would have been much better if the mini-bus had a speaker system and if Enzo provided us with information as we drove from one sight to another. As it was, he never spoke to the group while the bus was going from place to place.
My experience with Hotu Matu’a Tours was truly remarkable, with accessible values and a service that meets and exceeds expectations. The guides stand out for their closeness, knowledge and enthusiasm, authentically conveying the history and culture of Rapa Nui. Overall, it was an enriching and well-organized experience, ideal to get to know the island in depth and enjoy each tour with confidence and learning.
The two day tour is the right one to see "everything", although this "everything" is not equally exciting. There are maybe 3 sites that are really good, the rest is... well, you need to see this in order to have a picture of the pre-western culture. This particular tour was a very good value for money. The guides were reasonable, although the south-island tour did not manage to cover all the program, the guide was in hurry to finish. The pick-up was 45 minutes late (the island time), and the pick-up times in the brochure do not seem right. In general, the company did not communicate to the customers particularly well. Before Rapa Nui I was in San Pedro de Atacama, and in San Pedro the organizational matters were managed very well. When I arrived at Tupa Hotel to pay for the tours, the saff-member was neither knowledgeable nor interested.
The tour was well organised and covered all of the main sites that you are likely to want to see while here. Our guide was informative and also answered our questions about life on the island today, so we felt we learnt a lot. It is worth being aware that there is no lunch stop on the second day (which finished around 3pm) and that you must buy your National Park ticket separately.
