Description

Our adventure begins with exclusive visits to one or two charming, family-run wineries (Chose Regular Option for 1 Winery, and PREMIUM for 2) Here, you’ll be welcomed like an old friend and guided through tastings of award-winning Ports and elegant Douro table wines — each sip telling its own story of soil, sun, and tradition. When it’s time for lunch, we’ll gather around the table to share a lovingly prepared three-course meal, brimming with regional flavors and paired perfectly with local wines. In the afternoon, you’ll drift along the river on a traditional rabelo boat, just as merchants once did when carrying barrels of Port to Porto. The panoramic views — terraced vineyards cascading to the water’s edge — will take your breath away. Throughout the day, you’ll travel in comfort in our air-conditioned vehicle, guided by a passionate local expert in a small group by your side, it’s not just a tour — it’s an intimate journey shared with new friends.

Itinerary

90 min

Our journey begins at Rua Mouzinho da Silveira 34, where we’ll welcome you aboard our comfortable 9-seat van, fully air-conditioned to keep you cool on warmer days. From there, we’ll set off on a scenic 1.5-hour drive from Porto into the heart of the Douro Valley, where your unforgettable experience awaits.

60 min

Still in charming Pinhão, we’ll step aboard for a gentle one-hour cruise along the Douro River. This isn’t about the boat itself — it’s about the view you can only witness from the water. As we drift quietly between the hills, you’ll see the valley from its most private angle, where endless terraces of vines cascade towards the river. This is the very landscape that earned the Douro its UNESCO World Heritage status — timeless, untouched, and unforgettable.

90 min

(JUST FOR THOSE WHO SELECT THE PREMIUM OPTION) After a scenic 1.5-hour drive, we’ll arrive in the heart of the Douro Valley for our first stop — an exclusive visit and tasting. We choose to partner with smaller, family-run wineries, where the welcome is warmer, the stories are personal, and the wines are crafted with heart. Here, you’ll connect directly with the producer, gaining a true sense of the Douro’s soul — far from the more commercial atmosphere of larger estates.

180 min

After our time in Pinhão, we’ll follow the winding road to Peso da Régua — a charming town just 30 minutes away, yet connected to Pinhão by what many call the most beautiful road in Portugal, and one of the most breathtaking in the world. The National Road 222 drifts gracefully alongside the Douro River, revealing view after view of sunlit vineyards and shimmering water. Our final winery awaits us here. Over a lovingly prepared lunch, each course will be paired with carefully selected Douro wines, turning the meal into a true celebration of the region. Afterwards, we’ll linger for a brief visit, ending on a sweet note with a tasting of a fine, aged Port — the perfect farewell to the valley’s rich flavors and warm hospitality.

90 min

After a beautiful day filled with stunning landscapes, rich flavors, and unforgettable wines, we’ll make our way back to Porto on a relaxing 1.5-hour drive. We expect to arrive at the meeting point around 5:30 PM, though the exact time may vary depending on traffic or other circumstances. We kindly ask for a little flexibility — after all, the Douro has a way of making us linger just a bit longer.

Nuno, the ultimate tour guide in Duoro Valle

Nuno was an incredible tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the science and history of the valley! Would recommend anyone to take the tour, and support these family businesses so that they can pass onto the next generation!

mediocre premium tour.

We attended the so called ," premium wine tour, with 2 wineries and lunch and river cruise. Our driver and guide Pedro was first class but that is where the "premium" First wine tour was good. At the next wine tour we had lunch. The food was mediocre. I was told before the tour that the main course choice would be fish or meat. It was only meat. 3 miniscule pieces of meat, with rice, potato crisps from a packet and tomato and onion salad. Hardly "premium." It was a very hot day. We went on a boat with no cover outside and if you went inside there were no windows that opened. All the other boats had coverage outside with windows that opened for the inside cabin, if there was one. THE WORST BOAT. Definitely not premium. Pedro said he did not know why they gave us this boat. Extremely disappointed given their rave reviews.

Bordering on 5+

Incredible day, well organized and good guide. What was missing a bit was a little more info and info from the farmers themselves, one was not even English speaking. On the plus side the rest with two cozy vineyards, a fantastic lunch, good wines and port. Nice with a little boat trip even if that was maybe a little over rejected

Small family owned vineyard and authentic home style cooking at Douro valley

This was a wonderful guided tour. We traveled in a van as a family of 7 with our elderly mother and two young kids. We had Philip as our guide and he was patient and accommodating the entire time. We chose one winery to visit because we wanted a slower-paced experience of the Douro Valley and we were hoping to avoid the crowds. This trip surpassed our expectations and came away with a personalized experience. After the boat ride along the Douro River, he took us to a small family-owned vineyard where we met the lovely couple Taveira and Anita. We had Portuguese homestyle cooking in a 4 course meal, probably the best food we've had during our trip in Portugal. I usually don't drink, but their wine was so delicious, We tried the white, red, ruby, and tawny wine, all delicious. It's really unlike anything you can buy at any store and is organically made since it's produced locally and in small batches. Taveira makes wine because he just genuinely enjoys it. Ditch those unpersonalized group tours that take you to large commercialized wineries and opt for this one.

An unforgettable Douro Valley experience

We had an incredible experience touring from Porto to the Douro Valley with Felipe. From the start, he was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and effortlessly multilingual (Portuguese, English, and Spanish), which made the experience feel welcoming and accessible. The day was thoughtfully planned and truly authentic. We began with a beautiful boat tour along the Douro River, taking in the stunning scenery, before heading to a small, family-run vineyard and bed & breakfast—Casa da Quinta do Cabo. What made this experience special was how personal and genuine it felt. We were welcomed with a home-cooked lunch featuring locally sourced meats and cheeses, along with vegetables, olives, and olive oil all produced on the vineyard. Everything was fresh, simple, and delicious. We then sampled the family’s wines—red, white, and their port (vinho generoso)—and toured the cellar to learn about the winemaking process. Tasting their 20-year port was a highlight. Overall, this was much more than a typical tour—it was an opportunity to connect with the region, understand the wine-making tradition, and spend time with a local family. Felipe made the entire experience seamless and engaging. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Porto and looking for something authentic, educational, and memorable.

Do not miss this door valley wine experience!

Best excursion that we have ever taken! We have taken wine tours in various countries, but this was by far the best that we have experienced-our driver/tour guide/Sommelier/entertainer was fabulous! he was entertaining from the very beginning of our tour, but gave us great knowledge of how white, red and rosé wine is processed as he comes from a long line of wine producers. we visited three unique wineries, each had something very special. I boat tour on the Douro River was also incredible.. Highly highly recommend!

Enjoyable day visiting small family wineries

Enjoyed the first winery - great to go to a small family vineyard and Patrick who hosted was excellent. Boat trip was nothing special but good to see the beautiful scenery. Second winery was a lunch stop which was nice with plenty of food and wine. Lacked any additional info about the vineyard which was a shame. Overall an enjoyable day with a driver who kept us entertained.
