Itinerary
our guide will escort you at sights in Ephesus, informing you about history of outstanding Roman structures as you walk through the magnificent Marble Street of the city. Ephesus is the most visited ancient site of Turkey and the third largest city of the Roman Empire after Alexandria and Rome. Once it was a trading center of Asia province of the Roman Empire known as Asia Minor. During your stay in Ephesus, you will be amazed by two thousand year old structures such as the Parliament House, Temple of Domitian, Memmius Monument, Heracles Gate, mosaic covered pavements, bathhouses, public toilets, the Third Largest Library of the Ancient World, the shops, the Largest Theatre of Turkey where St. Paul preached and many others.
House of Virgin Mary. Ephesus is an important place in Christian history as it is recognized as the final residence of Mother Mary. During the second half of the first century Christians were heavily persecuted under the Roman rule. According to tradition after the crucifixion of Jesus, St John did bring Mother Mary to Ephesus with him to hide escape persecution. They did spend their last years in Ephesus which was a very prosperous trading city. The House of the Virgin Mary is located 6 kms (3.7mi) from Ephesus and surrounded by pine and olive trees. It is made of stone and looks very small and humble. Outside the house is a "wishing wall" which pilgrims have used by tying their personal intentions on paper or fabric. A water source is also located nearby, believed to have miraculous powers of healing. The shrine was visited by several popes.
The last historical spot of your tour will be the Temple of Artemis (Diana) which was one of the seven wonders of ancient World.

The guide did not show up, no one informed us, and when we tried to call, no one answered the phone. In the end, they refunded us the money, but the least I expected was a notice if for some reason you cannot come. Very bad experience
Great experience. We had a great time.Necdet was a great tour guide took his time either us and explained everything !!!
Necdet is a fantastic guide. He was waiting for us when we got off the cruise ship and had an air conditioned van ready to pick us up. We went to the House of the Virgin Mary and the Ephesus archaeological sites. He was very knowledgeable about everything we saw. While driving he taught us a lot about the history of Turkey as a whole, Ephesus, the regions of Turkey, and his hometown. At the sites he gave us a lot of information and answered all our questions. He not only knew the history, but he also educated us on the cultures through history. He arranged some demonstrations for us of pottery making/painting, and carpet weaving in silk and wool. He also arranged tastings of Turkish coffee, tea and Raki at our request (Turkish alcohol). He also arranged a traditional Turkish lunch which was amazing! Necdet also took photos of us for us which was a great perk. His English is great. He’s very friendly. We absolutely will book him as our tour guide the next time we are in Turkey.
The city of Ephesus was amazing. Our tour guide (Selin) brought the city to life. Her knowledge of the city and its historical significance made the trip. We did make some on the fly changes to our tour since it was a private tour and Selin was very accommodating to our wishes. Would very much recommend this tour and having Selin as your guide is a huge bonus.
Selin was our guide and she met us right on time. I was surprised at how big the ruins at Ephesus were. Selin is an archaeologist, she loves her country and is passionate about teaching others about it. We got so much more at Ephesus because of her knowledge. We stopped at a rug store where we were shown how they turn cocoons into silk and watched women weaving them. Amazing! We stopped at a restaurant for an authentic Turkish lunch and it was so good! On the way back we stopped at a pottery store with beautiful art for sale. I would recommend Selin to anyone wanting to learn more about Ephesus.
Our tour guide Selin, was amazing and she was an archeologist also. She was very knowledgeable of every site we visit and brought our tours to life. Her personality was so friendly, fun and pleasant. We enjoyed our time with her and even asked her to join us for lunch so she could order an authentic meal for us.
