Pedro was an amazing guide. He drove us in a nice 8 passenger van and gave us useful information and funny stories the entire way! The lunch was so filling, we couldn’t finish it all! The wineries were beautiful. We highly recommend Pedro!

The guide was easy to understand in English. The first vineyard had excellent wines for a small production (Porto and Douro wines). The dinner was very good.

Sandro was our guide and was wonderful Took us to two great vineyards, Viera de Sousa and Quinta do Cume. The wineries were great, the food was excellent and the people at the wineries were knowledgeable and welcoming and warm. Our guide Sandro was excellent and very knowledgeable about the Douro Valley. I would highly recommend him if you ever want to do a tour of the Douro Valley.

Our favorite tour. Enjoyed the Winery tour and wine sampling. The view from the Wine Tasting Room was outstanding. River boat tour was refreshing. Lunch and wine was very good. All views of wine country was outstanding.

Really fun especially as a solo tourist. The travel host was amazing. I wouldn’t bother paying for the wine tasting as most people on this tour ended up doing the river cruise so I ended up paying for both as I didn’t fancy doing the wine tasting on my own

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with this tour company was extremely disappointing. During our tour on May 30, the tour van was pulled over by Portuguese police, and six passengers received fines for not wearing seatbelts. My friend and I were each fined €120. At no point during the tour were passengers instructed to wear seatbelts, and there was no mention of this requirement in any of the pre-tour emails or materials we received. After the incident, I contacted the company and they conducted an internal review. In their own written response, they admitted that “a specific reminder regarding seatbelt use was not given during the day” and stated that they would be “strengthening our procedures to ensure that all guests are clearly reminded of the requirement to wear seatbelts while travelling in our vehicles.” So they acknowledged that the safety instruction was never given and that their procedures needed improvement. Their defense was that “under Portuguese law, the obligation to wear a seatbelt applies individually to all passengers.” Of course it does. The issue is that many of us on the tour were visitors from other countries who are unfamiliar with local laws and regulations. One of the main reasons people book guided tours when traveling abroad is to rely on local experts to help navigate unfamiliar places and provide important information that visitors may not know. If a legal requirement can result in tourists receiving fines, that requirement should be clearly communicated by the guide. The fact that six passengers in the same vehicle received citations should have made it obvious that this was not an isolated oversight by one individual. It was a failure to communicate an important safety and legal requirement to the group. The company admitted the reminder was never given, admitted they are changing their procedures because of this incident, and acknowledged that the police stop disrupted the tour. Despite all of that, they refused to offer any compensation and ultimately stopped responding to follow-up communications. The Douro Valley is beautiful, but I would strongly encourage travelers to choose a tour operator that places greater importance on guest communication, safety, and accountability.
First and foremost, we must respectfully disagree with the suggestion that guest safety is not a priority for our company. Safety has always been a fundamental part of our operations. Our vehicles are fully licensed, professionally maintained, equipped with seatbelts for all passengers, and operated by qualified and experienced drivers and guides. Every year, we welcome thousands of guests and complete hundreds of tours safely. As we acknowledged in our previous correspondence, a specific verbal reminder regarding seatbelt use was not given by the guide on that particular day. We accepted that this reminder could have been beneficial and have already reinforced our procedures accordingly. A missed reminder, however, should not be interpreted as a lack of concern for passenger safety. We also believe it is important to provide additional context. The legal obligation to wear a seatbelt applies individually to every passenger travelling in a vehicle in Portugal. Seatbelts were available throughout the journey and their use remained the responsibility of each adult passenger. While we understand your frustration regarding the fines issued by the authorities, we could not agree with your request for a full refund of the tour in addition to reimbursement of the penalties. The tour was delivered in full, including transportation, winery visits, lunch, river cruise and all services included in the booking. The operational costs associated with those services were incurred and paid by our company, and the fines themselves resulted from individual legal obligations that apply to all vehicle occupants. Finally, we would like to clarify that we did not stop responding to your communications. As explained previously, we were reviewing the matter internally in order to determine whether any gesture of goodwill might be appropriate. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of operations during the peak season, that review had not yet been concluded before this review was published. We regret that this incident overshadowed your experience of the Douro Valley and remain committed to continuously improving the information provided to our guests. What an incredible experience! From pick up to drop off, Pedro was prompt, friendly and gave us a great overview of the sites at every stop. The roads were winding, so be prepared if you get motion sickness but also be prepared for incredible views and food.
