We did the Douro Valley half day tour with our two teenagers (13 and 18). Alex was our tour guide and he did an exceptional job. He shared all kinds of history and information about our route and the country of Portugal in general. He was so knowledge, accommodating, and kind. The drive is absolutely stunning, and it’s nice to sit back and just enjoy the views which are stunning. We then visited a winery where we got a tour showing us how both wine and olive oil. That was followed by olive oil and wine tasting for the adults and grape juice (also amazing) tasting for those that don’t drink alcohol. And the views were unmatched. From there we had a delicious lunch in one of villages and followed the road beside the river on the way back to Porto. Porto is an incredible city, but you will be missing so much if you skip the Douro Valley and this tour.
Alex was a fantastic guide. He was kind and courteous, and went out of his way to make sure that we were comfortable. He took lots of pictures along the way, which made for great moments to look back on and was super knowledgeable about the region and the countries history. The restaurant where we had lunch was also a very good taste of local Portuguese cuisine.
Our guide/driver Miguel was awesome! This trip itself, the views, the wine, the food were all great. I would love to do this again.

Douro Valley is a site to see! Thanks to Jose and Ricardo for a great afternoon and fitting the itinerary just right for our group since we were 18 in total, with 10 seniors. The half day tour was great, just long enough. The wine and olive tasting was fun and the lunch was good too. Tadio, our guide made the trip really interesting and shared a lot of knowledge about the region and Portugal. He looked after us really well and his driving was very safe including when another driver swerved in front of us.

Jose Cardoso was a fabulous tour guide for this exceptional private tour. He was passionate about Portugal and the world in general. He provided the commentary we love to hear when visiting a new country. Our stops along the way for pictures was so appreciated and the winery tour was amazing. We enjoyed a wonderful Portuguese lunch with terrific wine. If you are looking for an experience to see the Duoro River and the mountains full of vineyards, this is the getaway from the cruise port and the large city of Porto. Our personal itinerary didn’t allow for a full day in the Douro Valley but knew we didn’t want to miss it and this was a great solution to see it on a time crunch. This stopped at one local winery and olive oil producer, a local restaurant for lunch, and multiple viewpoints to take great pictures of the area.

The half day tour was just great for us and the wine and olive tasting and then lunch was amazing. Our tour guide and driver , Chris , made the trip very special . He speaks fluent English, is professional, extremely knowledgeable about Portugal and the Douro valley , friendly and a good driver . We never felt rush and he got us back in Porto in good time .
