Very Enjoyable Cruise

We did the 2 hour cruise which was so enjoyable. It was a small group, some seated at the front of the boat and three of us at the back. Our driver/guide was polite, friendly and very knowledgeable (I’m so sorry to have forgotten his name). He stopped at each of the highlights of the tour and gave us information and answered any queries we had. The retro Italian themed songs in between stops was a nice touch and added to the atmosphere. I would recommend.

Operator response

Thank you very much guys.

Two hours shared tour is the good choice.

The tour was great, but company asked us to pay $60 more for 1 hour private tour (we purchased shared tour) or $82 more for shared 2 hours tour 1 hour later. We took 2 hours and were happy we did even it completely changed our plan for the day.

Operator response

Unfortunately, it often happens that shared tours don’t reach the required minimum number of participants. In these cases, customers are correctly asked if they would like to switch from a shared to a private tour by paying a small additional fee, or alternatively — as in your case — we offer other options, sometimes even more convenient, though with different schedules. We truly believe we did our best to accommodate you and are confident that we don’t deserve a three-star rating.

Lovely scenic tour of Lake Como

I did the 1hr speed boat tour. Really lovely scenic route passing by some amazing villas and towns. We did about ~5 stops and got a brief description of what we were seeing from our captain / guide. There wasn’t huge amounts of information - I’d have maybe liked a little more history/knowledge - but it was fun, and the journey was beautiful - it was lovely to see the lake from the water. Visitor seemed to charge a lot more than if I’d have paid directly to the company themselves / on the shore, so I’d recommend booking directly.

Operator response

In fact, the descriptions provided by the captains about the villas and landmarks are carefully calibrated to fit within the time needed to visit all the spots included in the one-hour tour. Unfortunately, when the captain gives more detailed information, it results in longer stops in front of the villas, causing delays and making it impossible to complete the entire tour properly. As for the payment you made and the existence of different rates depending on the booking method, please note that you booked through TripAdvisor, which is certainly a more expensive option compared to booking directly through our website. However, this is quite easy to understand and does not need to be mentioned in a review. Thank you.

Best boat tour!

Had the best time on this boat tour!! Francesco was amazing! Since my friend and I were the only people signed up for our time, we were asked to pay an extra 35 euros each to cover gas (stated clearly in the description when booking) which was still a great price for a private boat tour. Definitely recommend!!!

Operator response

Thank you my friends!!

Stay away from Dolce Vita Boat tours

I would have rated a 0 but would not have let me. We booked a 1 hour shared cruise. We got there and they told us because no one else showed up we would either have to pay more money. We refused to pay so they would not take us. We waited 20 minutes to see if someone else would show up and they didn’t and the owner refused to take us. They treated us like we were at fault. We felt like they were trying to scam us and were so rude to us

Operator response

As clearly stated on our TripAdvisor account, in the case of a shared tour, if the minimum number of 3 participants is not reached, the two remaining guests are asked to contribute an additional fuel fee of €25 per person for the one-hour tour, and €35 per person for the two-hour tour. This is because the tour effectively becomes a private experience, and it is therefore reasonable to request a small additional contribution for fuel costs. It is evident that you did not read the tour description on our TripAdvisor page, where this condition is clearly outlined. As for your claim that you were treated disrespectfully, we strongly disagree. We made every effort to explain the situation to you, but it appears you simply did not want to understand. The truth is that you expected to enjoy a one-hour private tour for just €120 in total, which is not in line with our clearly stated terms. Nevertheless, a full refund has already been issued to you.

Pick this boat tour!

This was an amazing boat tour! Not only was our guide knowledgeable but I get motion sickness when on a boat; I took medicine but told our guide how I get. Every time the waves were getting large from other boats he would purposely slow down and ask if I was feeling ok. It was the perfect balance of smooth sailing, beautiful views, and the best tour guide on the lake. The boat was immaculate and impressive. It looked brand new. You won’t be disappointed if you choose this tour!

Not private as originally purchased

Initially booked as a private tour for 2-3. Then modified after purchase to shared. Company sold 5 tickets at the dock at a massively reduced rate 45 Euros per person. Still had fun but do not waste your money purchasing at a full retail rate assuming it will be a private tour...

Operator response

You are acting in bad faith, and I strongly advise you to stop spreading falsehoods. The boat used for your tour is exclusively designated for shared tours, so it is not possible that you purchased a private tour with us on the KARNIC boat. Moreover, the price you paid (€45 or €55 depending on agency fees) clearly confirms that this was a shared tour, not a private one. The sales policies regarding our products concern only our company—not you. You paid for a shared service, and that is exactly what you received. Thank you.
