Take the train.

Too much time wasted on detours for Bicester-bound shoppers. Uncomfortable bus. Palace was being renovated, so not visually 100%. Palace itself had excellent displays.

Blenheim is beautiful, but not enough time to enjoy it

Blenheim Palace is absolutely stunning, but this specific tour cuts the visit too short.. The journey from London takes over two hours, made longer by a stop to Bicester Village to drop off other passengers. Viator fails to mention that this coach pulls double duty by stopping at Bicester Village. While Bicester is technically on the way, this detour adds 15 to 20 minutes each way and is not mentioned on the Viator booking page. We arrived at the palace around 12:30 PM. Although our driver kindly granted us an extra 15 minutes, the overall time on-site is simply too short to properly enjoy such a massive attraction. The coach departed at 4:45 PM to collect the remaining passengers from Bicester before heading back to London. Tour guide was nice

Operator response

Dear Guests, Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. We’re pleased to hear that you found Blenheim Palace absolutely stunning and that your guide was nice. We’re sorry, however, that the time at the palace felt too short and that the additional Bicester Village stop was not clear enough at the time of booking. We understand how disappointing it can be when there is not enough time to fully enjoy such a large attraction, and we’ll share your comments with our team for review. Kind regards, Evan Evans

This is a great place to visit and here are my pros and cons

This review will be very mixed with both the pros and cons of my experience at the fascinating and historical estate. Pros- gorgeous architecture, important history, great rooftop views and education about the restoration, informed and available docents. The ones in character were exceptionally fun and educational- you could ask them anything. I am very glad to have the opportunity to see this property. Cons - although the coach was comfortable and the staff on board very nice, there could’ve been some information/history provided on the ride and some instructions as to how best tour the palace and property. The audio guide was not very informative and did not coordinate well with what there was to see. Many of the artifacts did not have any placards as to what we were looking at - their significance, where they were made or when. Examples are the clocks and china and porcelain. There was a docent in the kitchen who showed me the photo of an outing which included Lord Balfour. She made an ugly and political comment that he should be held accountable as to the strife in the middle east. To me, she was saying that because he supported a homeland for the Jewish people, that the Balfour declaration is the cause of today’s wars. How many people have heard this from her? Appalling. If I have the opportunity to visit again, I would go with a live guide that toured the palace and the gardens. I hope that docent either isn’t there or has been educated to keep her political opinions to herself.

Operator response

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and balanced review of your visit. We’re pleased to hear that you enjoyed the stunning architecture, rich history, rooftop views, and the opportunity to learn more about the restoration of the estate. It’s also wonderful to know that you found the costumed docents engaging, knowledgeable, and enjoyable to interact with. We are, however, very sorry to hear that parts of your experience did not meet expectations. Your comments regarding the visitor guidance, clarity of interpretation materials, and overall information provided on site have been noted, as we continually look for ways to improve the guest experience. For clarity, on this type of tour there is no dedicated guide on the coach; instead, there is a host whose role is to ensure guests are aware of pick-up points, timings, and return arrangements. We appreciate your feedback regarding the lack of historical commentary during the journey, and we will take this into consideration as we review how we communicate tour expectations. We would also like to clarify that the member of staff you encountered on site is employed by Blenheim Palace and not by Evan Evans Tours. Nevertheless, we are very concerned to hear about your experience. All visitors should feel welcome and able to enjoy their visit without personal or political commentary, and we will ensure this feedback is shared appropriately with Blenheim Palace management for their review. We truly appreciate your honest and constructive comments, as they help us improve both the visitor experience and staff coordination. We’re glad that despite these concerns, you were still able to appreciate the significance and beauty of the estate, and we hope you might consider visiting again in the future. Kind regards, Evan Evans Tours

Such a pleasure to travel with Andy Jackson

Andy was an absolute star on our Blenheim Palace tour. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about the history of the place. From the moment we arrived, he set the tone with a warm welcome He listened to our questions, tailored the pace to the group, and even shared some behind the scenes stories that you won’t find in any guidebook. The whole experience felt personal rather than rushed, and we left feeling like we’d gotten a truly insider’s view of the palace. If you’re planning a visit, do yourself a favour and book Andy, you won’t regret it!
