The tour departs directly for medieval Óbidos. Expect a short, comfortable highway trip of around 60 minutes.
With Lisbon behind us, suddenly a rocky hill topped with a castle rises on the horizon - it's Óbidos. This picturesque town located in the west region of Portugal is renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture and charming atmosphere, making it a popular destination for travelers.
One of the town's main attractions is its medieval castle, which dates back to the 12th century.
Also dating from the 12th century, you'll discover the church of Santa Maria, located in Óbidos' main square, with beautiful Manueline and Gothic architecture. Inside, you can admire the ornate decorations and historic works of art.
The town is surrounded by well-preserved medieval walls, offering excellent views of the surrounding countryside. You can take a pleasant stroll along the ramparts and admire the landscape. The town's narrow, cobbled streets are lined with charming whitewashed houses adorned with colorful flowers, creating a picturesque setting that is perfect for exploring on foot.
The town is also known for its craft stores selling local handicrafts, ceramics and souvenirs. Here it will be hard to resist grabbing a souvenir.
(TASTING) Of course... you won't want to miss the opportunity to taste Óbidos' famous liqueur, Ginjinha, made from sour cherries and served in chocolate cups. Just enjoy it. It's on us.
(OPTIONAL) Suddenly it's time to head back to Lisbon, but if you want to have lunch locally (nearby, by the Atlantic, you can taste some of the best fish and seafood in the world) or continue discovering the region until the end of the day, just talk to us. Know that from Óbidos we are very close to the sea and the beaches and we can show you hidden places completely beyond the pin on the map.
(OPTIONAL) If you feel like it, we can even take the SUV on a short off-road tour around the Óbidos Lagoon, the largest salt lake in Portugal, to show you the richness of the local biodiversity and the scenic beauty of the region. Don't be shy... be curious, we like it.
Back to the Lisbon area. The journey takes between 4 and 6 hours, depending on the optional visits you make and whether you decide to have lunch on site. As a matter of transparency, we would like to inform you that in addition to the added time of 2 hours given to the attractions listed in the itinerary, the remaining 2 to 4 hours announced refer to: 2 hours for the total travel time, and the other 2 hours for the total time of the moments listed as optional. To meet your driver-guide look around for a curious and funny "a" which he/she will hold on his/her shirt, hat or eventually in his/her hand. If you're in a hotel, please wait in the hotel lobby. If you are staying in another type of accommodation, please wait by the main door at street level. As this is a half-day, private tour, the Operator makes the pick-up time flexible. To do this, after booking, check availability directly with the Operator up to 24 hours before the activity starts.

Although not the same as walking through the streets of Pompei, a trip to Obidos is a still a fascinating step back in time. This walled in city looks much like it did in the 12th Century and a walk atop the wall is a very cool experience. Our experience was greatly enhanced by having Marco as a guide, he combines an encyclopedic knowledge with a story-telling passion that any history buff will appreciate.

Our trip to Obidos with Marco was fantastic. He was right on time, the vehicle was comfortable, we were provided with waters, and it was a smooth ride to the destination. Marco was very knowledgable about Obidos, and the history of Portugal in general. He allowed us to go at our own speed and never rushed us through the shops. We were even provided with delicious shots of liquor in chocolate glasses! My only complaint is that we didn't have enough time there. We did the half day tour and I could have easily spent a full day exploring Obidos, walking the wall and getting lunch there.

I took my group of 12 ladies to the Obidos half day trip...from beginning to end the service I received was fantastic... the trip is a definite must Marco was our tour guide who was both professional, informative and fun.
