Description

I wasn’t sure what to expect on this tour because I was taking it in the “off season” (so no food to purchase or kayaking/snorkeling rental option during the free time on the island—I’m giving a 5 star review because I believe the tour when taken during the tourist season with those extras would deserve it). The drive from Lisbon to Peniche (where the boat leaves to Berlenga) was a little long and the driver didn’t say much, but it was a nice way to see a different part of Portugal. I lucked out and went on a beautiful day. I enjoyed the short boat tour around the island to get to the fortress. Bear in mind—even though you want to dress appropriately for free time on the beach—you should wear appropriate shoes so as not to slip on the hike from the fortress (involving...per my guide... a 300+stair hike up to the lighthouse and then back down to the marina)—if you aren’t able to do the hike, I believe a few people took the boat back to the main marina to wait for the group.
