Itinerary
Step aboard our comfortable van and prepare for a unique nighttime adventure. Your stargazing experience begins with pickups in the charming towns of Canmore and Banff, surrounded by the majestic Canadian Rockies. As you settle in, our friendly driver-guide will ensure a relaxed and enjoyable ride, offering insights into Banff National Park and tips for making the most of your stargazing experience.
Your evening begins at our favorite local lookout, where you’ll take in a beautiful nighttime view of Banff as the town lights glow below and the surrounding peaks fade into silhouette. From this elevated vantage point, your guide sets the tone for the night, sharing thoughtful insights into Banff’s history and how this mountain town came to be — a calm, reflective start that invites you to slow down and leave the day behind.
From here, a short, scenic drive brings you to Lake Minnewanka as dusk deepens. By the water’s edge, the pace remains unhurried as your guide shares a selection of captivating stories connected to this place — from Indigenous perspectives and long-standing relationships with the land, to the wildlife that moves through the area after sunset. Leaving Lake Minnewanka behind, you’ll travel a short distance deeper into the park as the forest darkens and the night settles in.
Upon arriving at our hand-selected viewpoint on the shores of Two Jack Lake, you’ll settle into premium heated chairs, thoughtfully chosen to keep you warm as the temperatures drop. You’ll have access to telescopes, binoculars, and iPads equipped with constellation-identification apps, allowing you to explore the night sky in vivid detail. Planets, star clusters, and distant galaxies come into focus, transforming the sky into a living map of light. To complete the experience, enjoy a complimentary hot chocolate or cup of tea — a simple, cozy comfort that pairs perfectly with the quiet atmosphere of the evening.
As the day draws to a close, you’ll be safely returned to your original pickup location, with all the insights you need to continue your journey, ready to embrace whatever comes next with ease and excitement. Throughout the evening, every detail is carefully considered to keep the experience smooth, comfortable, and unhurried — focusing on atmosphere and awareness rather than rushing through facts.

We loved our Stargazing tour! Our guide, Toby, was so knowledgable, fun, and friendly! We also got to see a baby grizzly and elk on the drive which was a great bonus! Would definitely recommend as you get an unique opportunity to explore a bit of Lake Moraine (without the crowds!) and see some amazing night sky.
Absolutely incredible experience! Abdul was kind, interesting, thoughtful, and an absolute delight. It was a late night, which I wasn’t totally prepared for, but a fantastic experience.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re really happy to hear you had such an incredible time and that Abdul made the tour so enjoyable. He’ll be very glad to know his kindness and thoughtful approach stood out and helped make the evening memorable. We also appreciate your honest note about the timing — these late-night tours can be a bit unexpected, but we’re glad it still turned into a fantastic experience for you. Thank you again for choosing us, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure in the Rockies!
Abdul was fantastic, informative and worked hard to make us comfortable. Good with the animal sitings and we were able to see a bear with 2 cubs!
Hi, we are really glad to hear you had such a great experience with Abdul — thank you for sharing this. It’s wonderful that you got to see a bear with two cubs as well; that’s always a special moment in the wild. We’re happy Abdul was able to make the tour comfortable and help you make the most of the sightings. We really appreciate your kind words and hope to see you again on another adventure!
Pablo and Abdul did a great job! Good information and stories. Attentive to our needs with chairs, blankets and hot chocolate! The clouds hampered our stargazing, but not the trip. Got to see some bighorn sheep and mule deer too!
Hi, Thank you for your lovely review! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour with Pablo and Abdul and appreciated their storytelling and attention to your comfort. It’s wonderful that you were still able to enjoy wildlife sightings along the way, even with the changing skies. We’re glad the experience remained memorable for you. Thank you for choosing Into the Wild Tours, and we hope to welcome you again in the future.
We really enjoyed this experience, our tour guide Samuel was incredible. He was so friendly and knowledgeable, we learned a lot of history about Banff which was awesome. Stargazing was fun, a little cloudy but no one controls the weather. Heated chairs and hot drinks were a nice touch.
Hi Jolenel, thank you for your kind review. We’re very pleased to hear you enjoyed the stargazing experience with Samuel and that you appreciated the warm drinks and heated seating. We’re glad the evening was memorable for you despite the changing mountain weather. Thank you for choosing Into the Wild Tours, and we hope to welcome you again in the future.
Guide was amazing, he took care of everything for us. Showed us how to get the best pictures for nighttime. Told us about the area and sights to see if we hadn't. Provided was heated chairs, hand warmers, blankets, hot chocolate, binoculares, trípods to take better photos, ipad to show us the stars and constellations. We had a full moon so didn't get to see the stars as well as we would have liked but got some amazing pics of the moon and the scenery around the lake. Would highly recommend this tour.
Hi Laura, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that your guide made the tour so comfortable and enjoyable, and that you were able to capture some amazing photos — even with the full moon. We’ll be sure to pass along your compliments to the team. It means a lot to us that you’d recommend the tour, and we’d love to welcome you back for another adventure under the stars!
I loved the experience that my son and I had with our guide, Laura. She was very knowledgeable and explained the history of the mountains and Banff. I also liked that we were able to stop a few places along the way to our destination. One of the least enjoyable moments was staying out there in the cold when there was complete cloud cover. When I say complete, I mean zero breaks in the clouds. At that point we should have left the rock pile . We stayed almost an hour later than we should have. Other than that, the tour was incredible.
Hi Rosie, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. We’re delighted to hear that you and your son enjoyed your time with Laura — she really is a wonderful guide, and we’re so glad her knowledge and passion for the mountains made your tour memorable. We also truly appreciate your honest feedback about the time at the rock pile. You’re absolutely right that weather conditions can sometimes make stargazing less enjoyable, and your note about leaving earlier when there’s complete cloud cover is very helpful. Feedback like this helps us improve the experience for future guests, and we’ll be taking it into consideration with our team. We’re so glad that overall you found the tour incredible, and we hope we’ll have the chance to welcome you both back on another adventure — hopefully with clear skies next time!
We really enjoyed our tour with Pablo. He was full of knowledge and enthusiasm. We didn’t see the Northern Lights but the stargazing was beautiful.
