Amsterdam's Countryside Half-Day Bike Tour in Small Group

Description
We are proud to be Amsterdam's smallest bike tour company! The number of participants per group is limited and we guarantee you to be in a group of no more then 12 persons. This ensures a fun, safe and high quality bike tour. Our countryside bike tour (total distance: 30 km / 18 miles) is a great break away from the city. On this leisurely bike ride you will learn about the Dutch history and our on going battle agains the water. The beautiful landscapes lay below sea level which you will see with your own eyes while riding your bike over the embankments that keep our feet dry. We'll be passing picturesque farmers and fishermen villages and see the big five of Holland on this Dutch safari. (cows, cows, cows, cows, cows) ;) Halfway through the tour we enjoy a relaxing break to hydrate and taste the world's best slice of apple pie in the picturesque village of Holysloot. This is the perfect fuel to keep us going and head to our favourite windmill in the region: a monument from 1792!

Itinerary
This tour takes place in the Waterland region, north from Amsterdam. Hop on and ride your bike through this gorgeous area of the typical polder landscapes and farmlands below sea level.
Ride your bike through old fishermen villages and learn about water management and how the Dutch manage to live below sea level.
We are halfway through the tour when we arrive in Holysloot, a tiny farmer's village in the middle of the countryside. Time for a break at the love restaurant 'het Schoolhuis', in the former school of the village. The apple pie served here is world famous in the area and great fuel for the rest of our tour!
You will learn about the interesting history of the 80-years war between Holland and Spain and see the tower of Ransdorp, the oldest building in the area.
What would a countryside tour in Holland be without seeing a windmill? Indeed! At the end of our tour you will pass by this gorgeous windmill from 1792 and learn about the old mill industry of Holland.

We had a fantastic time on the countryside bike tour today! Our guide, Villiam, was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience really enjoyable. I especially loved that we spent much more time actually riding compared to the city tour we did yesterday, allowing us to really soak up the beautiful countryside scenery. It was wonderful to experience Amsterdam from a completely different perspective and to learn more about the country’s fascinating waterways and how they shape everyday life. A relaxing, scenic ride with plenty of interesting insights, highly recommended!
We loved this bike ride through the countryside. It was nice change of pace from touring the city. Benjamin was a terrific guide - very friendly and knowledgeable about the area
A perfect family ride with kids 7-15! Ben was friendly, kind and perfectly tailored the ride to the abilities of all the kids. Registration and check-in were a breeze and Ben navigated us quickly out of the hustle and bustle of the city into the beautiful neighboring countryside and villages, providing history and explanation along the way. Overall a great experience! Highly recommend to any family visiting Amsterdam!
Great bike ride out into the countryside around Amsterdam. Jessie was an excellent guide. Finally don't miss out on the Apple pie, it is truly delicious 😋

Ben did a wonderful job showing us the Dutch countryside. It was both beautiful and informative. They made biking very enjoyable and a wonderful memory.
Hi! Thank you for your review. We know that Benjamin is a very knowledgeable and agreeable guide, and we are glad you had such a good experience riding around the countryside with him! All the best, Thijs
Shout out to Benjamin and We Bike Amsterdam! We had a great bike tour today. The Dutch countryside was so beautiful and peaceful - just a short ferry ride north of Amsterdam. We rode through idyllic villages, and along canals - saw windmills, cows and sheep and then stopped for a lovely coffee and dessert in a small village. Benjamin was so much fun to ride with. He was cheery and talkative and gave us some great background on the history of the area and the technology of water management. All the while he rides looking backwards most of the time to keep track of everyone in the group. We had a most unusual circumstance during our ride and Benjamin handled the situation beautifully. Bravo! It was a great ride. Thanks, We Bike Amsterdam and thank you, Benjamin!

This was a great tour- I liked that we didn’t go to too busy of tourist spots- we went to a local cafe for our half way break. We biked through picturesque farmlands and learned a lot of about the dams and terrain. Would definitely encourage friends to go. William was a great guide. Thank you!
Our friends did this tour 3 years ago and highly recommended it. 3 years later and We Bike Amsterdam is still great. We had a wonderful countryside bike tour with Sibko. He was engaging, knowledgeable and made the effort to get to know each participant. We really enjoyed our conversations with Sibko. The bikes were in great condition and comfortable. Group size was perfect (11). Our group included a family with a 7 year old and a 9 year old. We were all very impressed that they completed the whole tour. Everyone rode the regular bikes provided by We Bike Amsterdam and when the company says in their FAQs that e-bikes are not required for this tour, we can vouch for that. It was very comfortable and manageable with their bikes. We had a lovely refreshment break at an old school house cafe in a small village. The pace was appropriate for the group. We would highly recommend this countryside bike tour.
Our guide was Pearse, and he had certainly kissed the Blarney Stone. Great fun event. Would highly recommend it.
Great views, scenery and Apple pie! The guide Ben was fun and would highly recommend the tour for its money.
