Description

A pedicab tour is a very unique service that allows you to see a lot of highlights in a very short time. In just a couple of hours we can cover an area that would likely take multiple days with a walking guide. It doesn't mean we will rush past the different sights though. We will make plenty of stops and I love to go in depth on topics that have played a significant part in the history of the city as well as those relevant today. My tours are focused on the history of Amsterdam from the very beginning, through the centuries till present day. Not only will i talk about the sights we can still see nowadays, but also about those that disappeared but played a significant role in the history of the city, like for example parts of the jewish neighberhood. Being a native-born local, I can share also the changes I have personally witnessed in the last 4 decades and put everything into a bigger perspective. If you have any specific wishes for the tour or like to extend it, just let me know.

The Nieuwmarkt square is one of the most important squares of old Amsterdam. In the middle of it we find the old citygate, which formed the main entrance to the city when Amsterdam was a walled fortified city until the big city expansion of the 17th century. There is a lot of history around this square to talk about.

5 min

The Montelbaanstoren is an old watch tower for the ships that was part of the Amsterdam expanded defense line early 16th century. From here we also have a good lookout over de oude Waal where there are a lot of houseboats lined up with 17th century canal houses as background decor.

The Portuguese synagogue is the largest synagogue and also among the very first synagogue that jewish people were allowed to build in western Europe in the 2nd half of the 17th century (1675). The canal district is the 17th century expansion area that surroundings the old centre of Amsterdam. On any city map it can be clearly seen as the half circles that go around the centre. Here we find the majority of the typical Amsterdam canal houses that were once the homes of successful merchants. Unlike modern times, all canal houses are slightly different, although we will see there are some typical similarities among them that unveil their building era.

Museum square is the biggest and probably the most impressive and nicest squares of Amsterdam. On one side resides the largest museum of the Netherlands, the Rijksmuseum, where the bigger Rembrandt paintings are on display, on the other side we will see the Concertgebouw, concert hall for classical music. Also located next to the square are the Van Gogh museum, the Stedelijk museum for contemporary art, the Moco museum (Banksky) and the Diamond museum. Enough to keep you busy for a few days if you have the time. In the tour we stop here to enjoy the views and i will tell you some more interesting details.

Best way to see Amsterdam

This pedicab tour with Bram was my favorite thing we did on our two week tour to Europe. My 80 year old mother wanted to see this city close up and this was the perfect solution. Bram was knowledgeable, accommodating, and passionate about his city. I highly recommend this tour.

Best Tour of Amsterdam!

We had a wonderful tour with Bram. We set the overall parameters and he filled in the details based on our interests. He was a perfect match for us. We felt safe and protected. Even on a sunny day, it gets cold in the cab but Bram had a fleece lined poncho that kept us snug. He is very knowledgeable and showed us hidden gems. We highly recommend him. A unique and delightful way to tour this lovely city. Thank you Brad.

Wonderful Experience

The pedi bike tour was fantastic! Our guide was incredibly personable and happy to take us anywhere we wanted to go or see. His knowledge of Amsterdam’s history was impressive, and he even showed us pictures comparing how places looked in the past versus today, which made the experience even more interesting. I was a little reluctant to go at first, but after the tour I couldn’t stop raving about it. It ended up being one of the highlights of our time in Amsterdam. I highly recommend this tour without reservation!

Fun way to get to know Amsterdam

I booked this pedicab tour for my elderly parents who have trouble walking, and they absolutely loved it. They said their tour guide, Bram, told them all about the histories of places and showed them historical maps and photos of the places they visited while he brought them all over the city. Highly recommended.
