This is a pleasant trip with a pair of knowledgeable guides. We got to see a lot of sea life. The pictures we were able to get of Puffins and Seals with pups were incredible.
We had a fun two-hour trip into Kachemak Bay with Captain Ben and Deck Hand Jasper. They were both personable, informative, and responsive to all questions. They included a close up view around a small island to see an eagle family with chicks, and even a snack of oysters from the in-water farm stand! They both checked on those of us who wanted to stay outside the cabin, even after the water hit the deck - and us! It was truly a great adventure and one we highly recommend!
Excellent trip with Jasper and Captain Jack/Zack…..It was raining and we had late arrivals from a cruise ship and these two didn’t miss a beat! They were so professional and once we were on our way, they gave us so much information on the surrounding area and wildlife, it was awesome. So much wildlife on the trip and gorgeous landscapes. I highly recommend this trip with these two as your guides.
It was way better than I expected. The boat was large with both indoor and outdoor seating areas. They made sure we saw things and were super nice.
I did a few trips with this company, staff were super friendly. The captains and deckhands Kelsey, Justin, Ben, Ethan and Jasper were all very knowledgeable and provided really interesting facts about the local wildlife. Conor in the office was also very helpful at organising my trips. I would 100% recommend them and will be using them in the future!!
A beautiful sunny morning can still feel very cold on the Bay waters, so make sure you have warm layers and heavy windbreaker/ raincoat to break the wind. We were dressed right. There is a small area for inside seating area if you get cold. Best to wait for your coffee until after the tour. (You’ll be glad you did, as I didn’t notice any restroom.) The boat had good handrails to navigate boarding. Also, bring your binoculars! Tour guide Zach was very professional and knowledgeable about the geology and wildlife of the bay and Alaska. He was born and raised in this state and seemed genuinely interested in sharing his experiences and knowledge. Come with questions, as this is not a canned tour, but reflective of the groups’ interest and questions . We primarily saw different kinds of seabirds, otters and seals. Doesn’t sound life much, but to see them in their environment, sharing space and surviving for generations was amazing!
We had a great time. Justin met us at the dock and soon we roared away to view puffins, otter, gulls, eagles, and more along the waterways.
The guided boat tour was amazing! Highly recommend!
The experience was advertised as a small group with a maximum of 6 people, be aware that they actually take up to 14. This was deceiving for us as we actually have had excellent small tours in other locations. I would rate this as at best average. Most of the time was spent looking at birds. Not really educational or enlightening. Good for kids.
Colter was very accommodating and shared a wealth of intel from shore birds, otters, and local habitat to evolving community and industries.
