We are now wine connoisseurs!

Our day touring with Stel was fantastic! The variety of wineries we went to were perfect. We walked away with so much more knowledge on not only the beautiful area, but wine making and appreciation. Highly recommend!

A great day out with Stel!

We had another great wine tour with Stel. Our first tour with him was in January of 2020 just before Covid. We loved the tour. He even texted us during the pandemic to check in on us. Once we decided to return to Australia this year we knew we had to do another wine day with him. He is so knowledgeable about Tasmania and its wines. The wineries were fantastic as was lunch. You won’t go wrong doing a small group wine tour with Stel.

Operator response

Thank you Martin (M&M). I enjoyed another lovely day out with you both - So the first wonderful tour wasn't a fluke. Thank you again and keep warm. Regards. Stel

The highlight of our trip

Stel took myself and 4 friends on a private wine tour last week and I have nothing but amazing things to say about the whole experience. We are from Adelaide and have never been to Tasmania before, so we had no idea where to start when looking for wineries. I told Stel what we were looking to get out of the day, and he curated the whole experience for us, booking in 4 wineries and lunch at Willie Smith's. Stel's knowledge of wines and the Huon Valley region was extraordinary and we all came away from the tour having learnt a lot; you can tell he is really passionate about his job, and he made all of us feel comfortable to ask questions and engage with what he was saying. Stel is top-notch bloke and really left an impression on us with his humour and progressive thinking. The day was full of laughs (which was the number one thing we were looking for during a wine tour), and so many great conversations. I'm really glad we got to spend the day with him. The experience was well-worth what we paid, and I will definitely be booking again the next time I am in Tasmania. Cheers for everything Stel - this was definitely the highlight of our trip.

Thank you for your lovely review. I remember the 5 of you young South Australian passionate and caring people. I admire your commitment to society, and to learning about wine. Take care and hopefully our paths will cross again. Regards. Stel

Coal River Valley winery tour

It’s not cool when the tour guide goes out of his way to rudely interrupt a guest (deep in conversation with another guest) to educate them on the etiquette of holding a wine glass. Maybe a better approach is to lightheartedly address the group to discuss stem holding rather than glass holding. Also do not discuss politics with him, if he doesn’t agree with your view he will shut you down and call you ignorant. It certainly put the brakes on what would have been a memorable day. He did apologize but two guests left the tour. On the upside the wineries were absolutely fantastic, we really enjoyed some superb wines. Lunch was great too.

Operator response

Thank you Melinda. I am glad that you enjoyed the lunch, wines and cellar doors we visited. Have a wonderful "Rest of 2025"

Best wine tour ever!

Stel picked us up at our accommodation and introduced us to the other tour member (it was a public holiday so a bit quiet). While driving to the first winery he talked about Tasmanian wines and some of the background and history. Stel has an extensive background in wine education. He provided laminated (don't laugh, it was very practical) notes about tasting wines and talked about which characteristics specifically would tend to show up in Tasmanian wines. We visited four wineries: Derwent, Pressing Matters, lunch and then Pooley and Craigow. All the winery staff talked knowledgeably about their wines. At each place we were quickly seated and offered wine. Everyone knew Stel and was happy to see him (and us!). He guided us through the tastings, talking about the backgrounds of the wines and what to look for. Stel has a lot of knowledge about the local (and national) wines and how the weather conditions affect the vintages. We apparently talked quite a bit and kept running late but Stel was able to rearrange things with a few hushed phone calls. Great time and wine at all the wineries. An unexpected memory was watching the rugby with Barry at Craigow while tasting French-style wines. Highly recommend this wine tour for newbies and seasoned enthusiasts!

Great learning experience as well as fun!!

Had a wonderful day yesterday with Stel (& Bronwen) visiting 4 wineries in the Coal Valley region. Started with a coffee & then we were off. I had a great time & Stel's wine knowledge is just amazing. We visited Craigow, Caledon, Brinktop & Pressing Matters & had a yummy lunch in Richmond along the way. I bought quite a few bottles & was able to have them shipped at a very reasonable cost at the last winery. Was a full day & so worth it. Thanks so much Stel for a fantastic day out - great chatting with you & Bronwen. ☺️

Operator response

Tasmania Wine Tasting Tour

The wine tasting tour in Tasmania was an absolute delight! The picturesque vineyards and exceptional wines were only matched by our incredible tour guide Stel. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable about the local wineries and wines, but his humor and charisma made the entire experience even more enjoyable. He kept us entertained with fascinating stories and fun facts, ensuring that we had a memorable and laughter-filled day. Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore Tasmania's wine scene with a fantastic guide!

Great introduction to Tasmanian wine

This is a fun day visiting well-known and lesser-known wineries chosen by Stel. The price might seem high compared to a hop on hop off tour, but you get so much more: no tasting fees or waiting around for the next bus, a very good lunch with wine (or other drink if you need a break), and of course all of Stel’s knowledge about wine and this area.

Operator response

Thank you for your kind review. I hope to see you again on another tour to other cellar doors and regions (there are so many new vineyards and cellar doors that have opened over the last 12 months). Have a wonderful 2025. Steliano (Stel)

Simply da-vine!

Not just a "designated driver" so you can enjoy your wine. Stel is a wealth of knowledge not just about wine in general but about the local vineyards and the families that run them. I noticed that some of the other wine tours had a prescribed list of places they 'always' go to. Stel handpicked the cellar doors based on where we were likely to have the best experience (owner present, no other crowds). You can tell Stel is invested deeply in showcasing the best of the region and in ensuring guests have a great time.

Operator response

Thank you for your wonderful review. I appreciate your kind words. We had a great day out. 6 is a good number to have in our vehicle, comfortable drive with enjoyable conversations. Thank you again. Steliano (Stel).
