An den Südhängen des Berges Aragats, abseits der hektischen Städte, befindet sich die mittelalterliche Festung Amberd. Es steht auf einer felsigen Klippe auf einer Höhe von 2100 Metern, die von zwei Seiten durch tiefe Schluchten am Zusammenfluss der Flüsse Amberd und Arkashen geschützt ist. Die Höhe beträgt 3402 m; die Fläche beträgt 0,12 m²; Die Tiefe beträgt 9 m. An der Ostküste des Sees gibt es eine Wetterstation.

Der Klosterkomplex Saghmosavank liegt am rechten Ufer des Flusses Kasakh im Dorf Saghmosavan. Der Überlieferung nach wurde Saghmosavank von Grigor Lusavorich (Grigori dem Erleuchter) gegründet.
Der Klosterkomplex Hovhanavank befindet sich im Dorf Hovhanavan, am Rande der Schlucht des Flusses Kasakh. Vielleicht war es dem Jesus-Baptisten St. Hovhannes Mkrtich gewidmet.

Es steht auf einer felsigen Klippe auf einer Höhe von 2100 Metern, die von zwei Seiten durch tiefe Schluchten am Zusammenfluss der Flüsse Amberd und Arkashen geschützt ist. Es führt nur eine Serpentinenstraße dorthin, die durch Berge führt. Deshalb ist es im Winter unmöglich, dorthin zu gelangen, wenn alles schneebedeckt ist. Die Geschichte von Amberd reicht bis ins 7. Jahrhundert zurück. Trotz des hervorragenden Schutzes von Amberd wurde es Ende des 11. Jahrhunderts von Seldschuken aus Zentralasien überfallen. Die Architektur von Amberd ist einfach. Die Mauern der Festung bestehen aus massiven Basaltplatten, die einst zum Schutz vor Granaten und Belagerungswaffen dienten. An manchen Orten. Im Inneren der Festung waren noch Baufundamente und wenige Mauern erhalten.
Das Denkmal des armenischen Alphabets am Westhang des Berges Aragats wurde 2005 erbaut und ist dem 1600. Jahrestag der Entstehung des armenischen Alphabets gewidmet.

Getting a tour when you have limited time is the best way to know the city you are visiting. I had a great time being solo traveller since I own my time. Gagik let me spend all the time I need playing in the snow and even became my photographer. The tour itself was short since there only 3 destination in this package but the amount of time I spent on those places made it worth while.
