Der Garni-Tempel, eines der berühmtesten historischen und architektonischen Denkmäler unter Touristen, liegt in der Provinz Kotayk. Es ist das einzige in Armenien erhaltene Bauwerk aus heidnischer Zeit, das dem Gott Mihr gewidmet ist. Bevor wir den Tempel erreichen, machen wir einen Zwischenstopp auf dem Weg zum Charents-Bogen, von wo aus sich ein herrlicher Blick auf den Berg Ararat eröffnet. Dann besuchen wir das Geghard-Kloster (Ayrivank), wo der Legende nach seit dem 13. Jahrhundert der Speer aufbewahrt wurde, mit dem Christus durchbohrt wurde. Im Rahmen der Tour besuchen wir die Schlucht des Flusses Azat, wo wir die „Symphonie der Steine“, ein Wunder der Natur, sehen werden. Das Naturdenkmal, auch Basaltorgel genannt, ist berühmt für seine prächtigen, künstlich anmutenden Felsen.

Auf der Durchreise durch das Dorf Voghjaberd bemerkte der Architekt Rafael Israelyan oft, dass sich vom nahegelegenen Hügel ein herrlicher Blick auf den Berg Ararat öffnet. Und hier, 1957, vollendete Israelyan die von ihm entworfene Struktur, die den Berg Ararat Tempel genannt wird. Die letzte Zeile des Gedichts von Yeghishe Charents ist in sichtbaren großen Buchstaben am Eingangsbereich eingraviert. "Geh in die Welt; es gibt keinen weißen Gipfel wie Ararat, wie den Weg der unreifen Herrlichkeit; ich liebe meinen Masis-Berg." Sehr bald erhielt der Ort seinen neuen, populären und weiter verbreiteten Namen - Der Bogen der Charents. Wir beginnen die Tour mit dem Blick auf den Berg Ararat, das Symbol Armeniens.
Das Geghard-Kloster ist ein mittelalterliches Kloster in der Provinz Kotayk, das teilweise aus dem angrenzenden Berg gehauen und von Klippen umgeben ist. Der heute für das Kloster gebräuchliche Name Geghard oder genauer Geghardavank, was „Kloster des Speers“ bedeutet, stammt von dem Speer, der Jesus bei der Kreuzigung verwundet hatte. Es wird angenommen, dass der Speer vom Apostel Judas, hier Thaddäus genannt, nach Armenien gebracht und neben vielen anderen Reliquien aufbewahrt wurde. Jetzt wird es in der Schatzkammer von Etschmiadsin ausgestellt. Die Klosteranlage gehört zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe mit erhöhtem Schutzstatus.
Die nächste Station ist die Basaltorgel, die Symphonie der Steine. Die Anhäufung von Natursteinen mit wunderbarer Symmetrie ist ein wahres Naturwunder und gehört auch zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe. Die sechseckigen Steine, die nacheinander über den Canyon gespannt sind, sehen aus wie eine Orgel, daher der Name.
Der Tempel, der im ersten Jahrhundert erbaut wurde und seit Jahrhunderten existiert, wurde zerstört und stand wieder auf. Es erzählt über das vorchristliche Armenien und das armenische Volk. Der Tempel, der Mithra, dem Gott der Sonne, geweiht ist, ist der einzige erhaltene heidnische Tempel sowohl in Armenien als auch auf dem Gebiet der ehemaligen UdSSR. Der Tempel wurde 1679 durch ein verheerendes Erdbeben zerstört und für etwa 8 Jahre, 1968-75, restauriert.
Die Einarbeitungstour endet mit einem Lavasch-Meisterkurs, bei dem Sie sehen, wie das berühmte armenische Brot Lavasch gebacken wird.

It’s very good tour. We made a few good friends. The symphony stone is best. The lunch is also pretty good. Make sure to pay early to avoid the long queue.

The tour and places were amazing, and Gayane was a super guide. I was the only foreigner and she was leading by herself the tour both in armenian and english language. She never forgot me and she answered to all my question, she was really prepared and I felt lucky to have almost a private guide. I suggest you to book a tour with One Way

The views were beautiful, but unfortunately the tour itself was disappointing. The minibus was very uncomfortable. The first row was fine, but getting in and out of the back rows meant squeezing through a narrow space and bending down every time. If you're tall, it won't be pleasant. The lavash master class was underwhelming. Several tour groups were combined, making it overcrowded. Most people couldn't even see the demonstration. The restaurant also raised concerns. There was construction work directly above the kitchen, which didn't seem very hygienic. The food was good, but the conditions could have been much better. The places are absolutely worth visiting, but I'd recommend skipping the guided tour. We were rushed at every stop with very little time to explore or take photos, and most of the information can easily be found online.
