Die Kathedrale von Etschmiadsin (wörtliche Übersetzung: Die Abstammung des Eingeborenen) ist das Zentrum der ursprünglich im frühen 3. Jahrhundert v. Chr. erbauten armenisch-apostolischen Kirche und eine Reihe von Quellen geben auch an, dass Etschmiadsin die älteste offizielle christliche Kirche der Welt ist. Das Kloster Khor Virap liegt etwa eine Autostunde von der Hauptstadt Eriwan entfernt und bietet einen atemberaubenden Blick auf das Wahrzeichen Armeniens - das majestätische Ararat. "Khor Virap" bedeutet "tiefer Kerker" und wurde an der Stelle des ehemaligen königlichen Gefängnisses errichtet, das sich an der historischen Stätte von Artashat befindet. Es war genau dieses Gefängnis, in dem Gregor der Erleuchter, der erste armenische Katholikos, 13 Jahre lang festgehalten wurde.
Sie besuchen die St. Hripsime-Kirche, die auf dem Grab einer christlichen Nonne Hripsime erbaut wurde, die aus dem Römischen Reich geflohen ist und in Armenien getötet wurde. Dieses erstaunliche Gebäude steht seit dem Tag seines Baus seit 618 v. Chr. Auf und ist damit eine der ältesten stehenden Kirchen der Welt.
Fünf Autominuten entfernt befindet sich unser nächster Ort: die Kirche St. Gayane aus dem 7. Jahrhundert. Gayane war das Kindermädchen von Hripsime und teilte das tragische Schicksal von Hripsime.
Sie werden die erste christliche Kathedrale der Welt sehen können – die Heilige Ejmiatsin, erbaut in 301-304. Der Legende nach stieg Jesus Christus an derselben Stelle herab, an der heute der Dissentionsaltar steht, wo Gregor der Erleuchter die Kirche bauen ließ. Die Kathedrale ist ein Symbol für die nationale Identität und das Erbe Armeniens und spiegelt die tief verwurzelte christliche Tradition des Landes wider.
Die Kathedrale von Zvartnots, die heute in Ruinen steht, ist eine zentral geplante armenische Kathedrale vom Typ eines Tetraconchs aus dem 7. Jahrhundert, die vom Orden des Katholikos Nerses des Erbauers von 643-652 erbaut wurde. Der Legende nach bedeutet der Name „Zvartnots“ „Himmelsengel“, inspiriert von dem Glauben, dass Engel einst über den Tempel wachten. Es ist in der UNESCO-Erbeliste enthalten. Tatsächlich sind alle Kirchen, die in der Tour enthalten sind, auf der UNESCO-Weltkulturerbeliste aufgeführt.

In addition to being polite and attentive, he strived to count aspects of each stop, using Google Translator On Line, reducing language impact. This tour was great! The tour guides of this company makes the visits interesting, engaging and enjoyable. Although there was a constant language switching by the tour guide from Russian to English and vice versa, which interrupted the immersion, still it was a very nice and valuable tour. I recommend them, especially if you book a tour in the Russian language, the experience will be much more unique. As a note to the operator, they should consider offering the same tours in Russian and in English as separate groups, this would keep the experience consistent in the preferred language. Other than that, everything was great

Were on an individual field trip with guide Karen today. We really enjoyed it. The guide spoke very well about the history of Yerevan, about all the temples we visited, learned very much new and unknown about the formation of Christianity. I highly recommend it. On my final day I had this half day trip booked for after I checked out and had my bags. It was a private tour so I had the car to myself. The driver came to my apartment at 10am to pickup as arranged. It was an older guy who didnt speak much English but tried to help as best as could. We went first to Khor Virap then back to the churches around the city Echmiadzin, Hripsime, Gayane, and Zvarnots temple. I was dropped back at Republic Squre where I had requested. It was very convenient to have my own driver after two large bus tours on previous days and reasonably priced.
