Das Khor Virap ist ein armenisches Kloster, das sich in der araratischen Ebene in Armenien nahe der geschlossenen Grenze mit der Türkei befindet. Die Bekanntheit von Chor Virap als Kloster- und Wallfahrtsort wird der Tatsache zugeschrieben, dass Gregor der Illuminator hier zunächst für etwa 14 Jahre von King inhaftiert war Tiridates III von Armenien. Der heilige Gregor wurde später zum religiösen Mentor des Königs und sie führten die Proselytizing-Aktivität im Land an. Im Jahr 301 wurde Armenien als erstes Land der Welt zur christlichen Nation erklärt. [2] [5] [6] Eine Kapelle wurde ursprünglich 642 an der Stelle von Khor Virap von Nerses III dem Baumeister als Zeichen der Verehrung für den heiligen Gregor errichtet.
Das Dorf Areni liegt etwa 120 km von Jerewan entfernt am Ufer des Flusses Arpa. Am Dorfeingang, gleich an der Straße auf der linken Seite, befindet sich eine private kleine Weinfabrik "Areni", die Sie besuchen können, um sich mit dem Produktionsprozess vertraut zu machen und die lokalen Weine zu probieren.
Noravank ist ein armenisches Kloster aus dem 13. Jahrhundert. Es liegt 122 km von Eriwan entfernt in einer schmalen Schlucht des Flusses Amaghu in der Nähe der Stadt Yeghegnadzor in Armenien. Die Schlucht ist bekannt für ihre hohen, ziegelroten Klippen direkt gegenüber dem Kloster. Das Kloster ist vor allem für seine zweigeschossige Kirche Surb Astvatsatsin bekannt, die über eine schmale Steintreppe, die aus dem Gesicht eines Gebäudes hervorragt, Zugang zum zweiten Stock gewährt freitragende Architektur.

Overall it was very good. I just wish there was too easy a wine tasting place and lunch time. As for the driver, I was glad he was right and safe. They stopped by places I didn't plan to visit and Wagamama listened.
Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable. Provided extra direction to us around at each sight to make sure we experienced everything. He was flexible to make an extra stop at Magellan Cave and a local restaurant in Areni. We appreciated being in a mini-van and not in a large tour bus, it was a wonderful experience.
We booked this tour because it was a private car so we could spend more time doing things we wanted without having to wait for a group. It is totally worth it. We aren’t photo takers much so we spent more time exploring and chatting with our guide. He was the absolute nicest person and so down to Earth. Conversation during the drive time was hilarious. We probably enjoyed the conversation more than the tour! lol. Thank you Bayk for the incredible time. We really enjoyed the entire day and were engaged until the final site. We highly recommend this tour!

Gor was a decent tour guide, and his English was better than many! We appreciate his effort to drive us around in the countryside and tell the stories of the places we’ve visited. He also checks on us regularly and sensitive with our needs. Felt safe and enjoyed the experience. He suggested to eat in a restaurant and we enjoyed it!
