Die im 10. Jahrhundert gegründete Klosteranlage Sanahin fällt mit der Zeit der Bagratuni-Dynastie zusammen. Die erste Kirche, Surb Astvatsatsin, wurde im Jahr 51 erbaut. Das Kloster verfügt über fünf Kirchen, eine Bibliothek, einen Glockenturm, eine Akademie und ein Königsgrab. Hier befindet sich übrigens die älteste Akademie Armeniens. Neben Haghbat gehörte Sanahin zu den ersten, die unter den globalen Schutz der UNESCO gestellt wurden.
Haghbat liegt in der Nähe von Sanahin und ist ein riesiger Klosterkomplex mit vielen Kirchen und religiösen und weltlichen Gebäuden. Die erste Kirche, Surb Nshan, wurde 976 erbaut. Die größte Bibliothek Armeniens wurde in Haghbat gefunden, wo es eine spezielle Möglichkeit gab, Bücher zu lagern. Sie wurden in die Löcher gelegt, und Wein wurde mit ihnen in einem offenen Zustand platziert, damit Feuchtigkeit die Manuskripte nicht verderben würde. Haghbat ist seit Jahrhunderten ein wichtiges Zentrum der armenischen Geschichte, Kultur und Bildung.
Die nach der heiligen Mariam Astsvatsatsin benannte Kirche der Klosteranlage Akhtala ist die größte der Region unter den Kirchen, die nach der heiligen Jungfrau benannt sind. Mit seinen einzigartigen Fresken, Architektur und Skulpturen ist dieses Kloster seit Jahrhunderten ein spirituelles Zentrum für Armenier und viele andere Völker. Auf dem Gebiet der Klosteranlage befinden sich die Kirche St. Grigor Lusavorich, das unterirdische Bad, der königliche Palast und andere Gebäude. Aufgrund des Überflusses an Kupfer erhielt die Siedlung den Namen Akhtala, nach dem das Kloster benannt wurde. Akhtala ist einer der einzigartigen historischen und kulturellen Orte mit seinem Pass, einem Beleg in Form eines Chatschkars, in dem geschrieben steht, dass Mariam, die Tochter von König Kyurike, das Kloster gründete.
Die Odzun-Kirche in der armenischen Provinz Lori ist eine Basilika aus dem 8. Jahrhundert, die ursprünglich im 4. Jahrhundert erbaut wurde und für ihre einzigartigen architektonischen Merkmale und komplizierten Schnitzereien bekannt ist. Es dient als bedeutende kulturelle und historische Stätte, die Armeniens reiches christliches Erbe widerspiegelt und Besucher mit seiner künstlerischen Brillanz und dem umliegenden antiken Friedhof anzieht.
Schloss Aramyants ist eines der schönsten und historisch bedeutendsten Denkmäler Loris. Es wurde im Schweizer Chaletstil erbaut und gehört zu den seltenen erhaltenen Burgen in Armenien. Einst eine luxuriöse Sommerresidenz, wurde es auch ein Ort von großer nationaler Bedeutung - die Erklärung der Ersten Republik Armenien wurde hier verabschiedet.

Today I once again experienced a very informative and competently guided tour with Anahit (guide) and Flat (driver). We visited AKHTALA MONASTERY, ARAMYANTS CASTLE, HAGHPAT MONASTERY, SANAHIN MONASTERY and Odzun monastery, which was outside the program. Since we were seven travelers (from Armenia, someone from the USA and me from Switzerland), Anahit suggested this to us and we were very excited about this extraordinary opportunity. I have taken a couple of tours with this travel agency, and I loved all of them. The quality of the services provided is high, the treatment is very good, and the scenery is stunning. This trip to the Lori region really showcases the natural beauty of Armenia and its rich and ancient culture. The road to each of the locations is very smooth and absolutely beautiful as we travelled through the mountains. We had enough time at each location to take a break and look around. There were enough facilities (shops and washrooms) around for basic needs. Our guide Knarik Harutyunyan was so helpful, kind, funny and energetic, and she provided us with all the necessary historical information about each location. She also takes great pictures!!:))) Also the driver was very helpful, and I felt safe in the car during the trip. I absolutely loved this trip organized by One Way Tour! PS: I highly recommend to have Armenian coffee at the beautiful location in Mendz Er! The view is amazing!!

A well thought-out and organized tour where I saw many unique landscapes and monastery complexes while meeting nice people! Karmela has declared very committed and enthusiastic and has a great background knowledge that she is happy to pass on. Not only have I learned a lot about monasteries, but also Armenia in general. I was lucky that it was a mixed Armenian-international tour group, so beautiful scenes were created, such as spontaneous lessons in Armenian dances during a tea break.
