Vormittags ist der biblische Berg Ararat besonders schön, daher ist der erste Halt am nächstgelegenen Punkt Armeniens zum Berg vorgesehen – dem Kloster Khor Virap, wo das Christentum in Armenien seinen Ursprung hat. Anschließend machen Sie Halt an einem besonderen Aussichtspunkt und haben die Möglichkeit, schöne Fotos vom Azat-Stausee inmitten der Natur zu machen. Als nächstes auf der Route steht der einzige heidnische Tempel in Armenien – Garni. Erleben Sie das Backen von Lavash (armenisches dünnes Brot), eine der schönsten und häufigsten armenischen Nationaltraditionen, und nehmen Sie an einem spannenden und fröhlichen Meisterkurs für süße Feiertage teil. Khor Virap ist die berühmteste Pilgerstätte Armeniens, da sie direkt mit der Annahme des Christentums verbunden ist. Als Staatsreligion wurde das Christentum in Armenien im Jahr 301 aufgrund von Bemühungen des Heiligen Gregor des Erleuchters angenommen, der, bevor er König Trdat den Dritten zum Christentum bekehrte, im Kerker gefangen gehalten wurde, über dem im 17. Jahrhundert eine Kirche des Klosters Khor Virap errichtet wurde. Vom Kloster aus kann man den atemberaubenden Blick auf den biblischen Berg Ararat bewundern.
Kurzer Stopp zum Bewundern der Aussicht und Fotos
Lavash ist eine der beliebtesten gastronomischen Ikonen Armeniens und ein integraler Bestandteil der armenischen Küche. Es handelt sich um ein traditionelles weiches, dünnes Fladenbrot, das im Tonir (spezieller Bodenofen) hergestellt wird. Obwohl das Backen von Lavash viele besondere Fähigkeiten erfordert, wird es von Frauen durchgeführt. Im Jahr 2014 wurde „Die Zubereitung, Bedeutung und Erscheinung des traditionellen Brot-Lawasch als Ausdruck der armenischen Kultur“ in die Repräsentative Liste des immateriellen Kulturerbes der Menschheit der UNESCO aufgenommen. Während dieses Meisterkurses beobachten und erlernen Sie die jahrtausendealten Techniken der Lavash-Herstellung und probieren natürlich selbstgebackenes Lavash zusammen mit etwas frischem Gemüse und leckerem Käse aus der Region. Wenn Sie einmal den Geruch von Lavash spüren, werden Sie diesen Eindruck ein Leben lang behalten:)
Das Geghard-Kloster ist das unübertreffliche Meisterwerk der armenischen Architektur des 13. Jahrhunderts. Einige der Kirchen des Komplexes sind meisterhaft in einen riesigen Felsen gehauen. Von Anfang an hieß die Anlage Ayrivank (Höhlenkloster), später wurde sie in Geghard (Lanze) umbenannt, da die Lanze, mit der der römische Soldat die Seite Jesu Christi stach, viele Jahrhunderte lang in diesem Kloster aufbewahrt wurde. Aufgrund seiner Bauweise ist Geghardavank der beste Ort zum Singen spiritueller Lieder. Der Komplex ist reich an subtilen skulpturalen Verzierungen und vielen markanten Khachkars (Kreuzsteinen). Die Stätte ist in die Liste des UNESCO-Weltkulturerbes aufgenommen.
Der Garni-Tempel, der über einem dreieckigen Kap thront, ist das einzige erhaltene Beispiel heidnischer Kultur in Armenien. Es ist eine Mischung aus griechisch-römischen und armenischen Stilen. König Trdat der Erste ordnete den Bau des Tempels im ersten Jahrhundert n. Chr. an und weihte ihn dem Gott der Sonne. Nach der Annahme des Christentums im Jahr 301 verlor der heidnische Tempel seine Bedeutung und die Festung Garni wurde zur Sommerresidenz der Könige. Heutzutage befinden sich in der Nähe des Tempels die Ruinen des Königspalastes und das Badezimmer mit einer atemberaubenden Mosaikarbeit.

We had an incredibly smooth and memorable experience as a family of five, including grandma and two young kids, ages 10 and 7. Pickup from our hotel was right on time, and the shuttle was very comfortable for everyone. Our guide, Arpi, was knowledgeable, warm, and made the day feel easy and enjoyable for both the adults and kids. The food was delicious, and the entire experience felt well-organized from start to finish. We would definitely recommend this tour to families looking for a comfortable, meaningful, and enjoyable experience. Wear comfortable shoes, bring hats and water.

Due to the crowd of visitors at the sites on the weekend, the bus parked quite far away, and we had to walk a good ten minutes. This made us lose visiting minutes at the site since we had to respect the return time to the bus for our next excursion point. Did we have time to see everything calmly? No. That was the only downside. As for the service from our guide Marina and our driver Joseph, they deserve praise for their professionalism. Thank you.

Russian and English speaking tour. The English speakers were always last ! At each venue the guide did 2 tours, one in each language, and I found that while I waited for the Russian tour to end, I looked at things which were then shown to me on the English tour. A good tour to see these sights.

Great tour and outstanding performance by the tour guide Arpi, who despite the weather managed to pull off the entire itinerary. The driver Spartak deserves kudos too for driving in such tight roads and challenging weather. Itinerary itself is great, with an end at Gegard which is a one in a lifetime experience. Recommended.

We had a great day on June 7! Our guide was really nice and shared a lot of great stories about Armenia and the costumes of the people there. It is a lot of information in 2 diferent languages all really fast, whats can make it confusing sometimes. But there were great vibes, the places are beatifull, the lavash baking taught us sometimg new and the lunch was good. We really learned about Armenia’s history. The bus was confortable and safe, with seatbelts, water and A/C, and our driver was also driving really safe.

Excellent tour! Very well-balanced, it is very hard to get tired. All locations are about 45-60 minutes from Yerevan and 20 minutes from each other. Hard to describe how epic and beautiful everything is, just book this tour and see yourself. Our guide Nina speaks excellent English (and Russian too), her storytelling is great. She gives a short yet informative information about everu location and there’s plenty of time do explore them by yourself and, most importantly, take pictures. Lots of them! Because every location is spectacular. We’ve also had lunch in a very cozy family restaurant.
