„Der Überlieferung nach wurde die Hauptkirche an dem Ort errichtet, an dem Miadzin abstieg, Etchmiadzin. In Gregors Vision zeigt Christus die Stelle des Haupttempels mit einem goldenen Hammer. Die älteste Kathedrale der Welt, gegründet 303, war dazu bestimmt, ein wichtiger Zeuge und Teilnehmer in der Geschichte des armenischen Volkes zu werden. Als wichtigstes Zentrum des Weltnetzwerks der armenischen Kirche ist die Etchmiadzin-Kathedrale heute durch ein großes Gebiet vertreten, das viele alte und neue Kirchen, säkulare Strukturen, Bibliotheken, ein Priesterseminar usw. umfasst."
Die Reihe der glorreichen Kirchen des siebten Jahrhunderts setzt sich mit St. Gayane fort, das nur 12 Jahre später als St. Hripsime gegründet wurde. Diese Kirche, erbaut 630, wurde auf dem Grab einer christlichen Jungfrau gebaut, die Ende des 3. und Anfang des 4. Jahrhunderts, etwa 3 Jahrhunderte nach ihrem Tod, in Armenien starb. Die Kirche wurde 1652 restauriert. Im Hof befinden sich viele Särge, darunter berühmte Militär- und Kulturfiguren des armenischen Volkes.
Experten zufolge gilt die Architektur von Saint Hripsime als eines der besten armenischen Beispiele. Hier wurden erstmals armenische Nischen eingesetzt, die seismischen Widerstand leisten. Der Bau der riesigen Kirche wurde 618 abgeschlossen und hinterließ ein großes architektonisches Erbe, dessen Details noch heute verwendet werden.
Trotz der Zerstörung ist Zvartnots in seiner spirituellen, kulturellen und architektonischen Bedeutung weiterhin einzigartig. Diese riesige Kirche, benannt nach den Engeln, wurde 9 Jahre lang gebaut und 652 geweiht. Der wunderbare Tempel mit einer Höhe von 46-49 Metern wurde zerstört, wahrscheinlich infolge eines Erdbebens, nach dem solche Kirchen in Armenien nicht mehr gebaut wurden. Das wirkliche Aussehen von Zvartnots war lange Zeit unbekannt, bis Architekt T. Toramanian schlug die eigentliche Anfangsform der Kirche vor, was später durch andere historische Fakten belegt wurde.

It was good to have a direct transportation to the sights and to have an explanation there. Unfortunately, our guide was far from being motivated for his job or interacting with the group or making an individual approach. Maybe he doesn't like his job. I guess sharing a taxi and having the attractions looked up online would have been a way, too.

Tatev is a very atmospheric place, opened up to us through fog and thick clouds. The cable car sank in the fog, sometimes showing below the amazing landscape. Yegor, our guide, gave a very lively and detailed account of the history of the place. Then we went to Hndzoresk. An unusual place whose history stopped not so long ago. The journey was completed at a work of art created by nature itself - a majestic waterfall.
