Kochende Schlammbecken, heiße Quellen, Krater und der Geruch von Schwefel sind reichlich vorhanden. Wir machen auch Halt in der Asbyrgi Schlucht, wo ein kleiner Wald und See im Herzen einer bemerkenswerten hufeisenförmigen Schlucht liegen. Reine Klippen schweben in alle Richtungen. Von Akureyri aus fahren wir etwa 30 Minuten zu unserem ersten Halt, dem wunderschönen Wasserfall Godafoss. Sehen Sie sich die Wasserfälle von mehreren Aussichtspunkten aus an und gehen Sie den Weg entlang, um das perfekte Foto zu machen.
Fahren Sie um die Gegend des Mývatn-Sees herum, die vom besten Aussichtspunkt aus eine einzigartige Landschaft bietet. Machen Sie einen kurzen Fotostopp mit Blick auf den Mývatn-See. Diese riesige hufeisenförmige Schlucht wird an 3 Seiten von massiven vertikalen Klippen begrenzt, die bis zu 330 Fuß hoch aufragen. Diese Klippen beherbergen eine Vielzahl von Vogelarten. In den tiefsten Ausläufern der Schlucht befindet sich ein idyllischer Teich namens Botnstjorn.
Eine malerische Fahrt von Ásbyrgi nach Húsavík. Dieses charmante Fischerdorf ist Islands Hauptstadt der Walbeobachtung. An diesem Tag haben wir zwar keine Zeit, aber wir haben Zeit, das geschäftige Treiben im zentralen Hafen sowie eine der schönsten Kirchen Islands zu bewundern. Der Aufenthalt in Húsavík dauert etwa 20 Minuten. Húsavík erlangte internationale Aufmerksamkeit, nachdem es im Will Ferrell-Film „Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga“ auf Netflix zu sehen war. Die Rückfahrt nach Akureyri dauert 1 Stunde, wo Sie am Hafen abgesetzt werden.

Diamond circle tour from Akureyri was excellent! We had great weather, and my absolute favorite part was picking wild blueberries in Asbyrgi canyon! Thank you!
Disappointed that the tour lasted 9 hrs. The description when booking said an 8 hr tour. We weren't the only ones who made plans based on the tour details. Still don't understand why it went 1 hr over. We've been on lots of excursions in various locations around the world and they always follow the schedule.
Fantastic day experiencing a variety of things Iceland has to offer. Good info about the country, the people, and the history.
We thoroughly enjoyed this full day tour and learned so much. They were very mindful of cruise ship return times and we never once felt worried or hurried. Highly recommended.
Another excellent tour with a great variety of stops that showcased the incredible beauty and diversity of Iceland. Our guide, Sigurjon, did an outstanding job sharing interesting facts about the country’s history, culture, and traditions. What made the tour especially enjoyable was how he connected those stories to his own life, explaining how Iceland has shaped him and his family. Those personal insights made the experience feel authentic and gave us a much deeper appreciation for the places we visited. A sandwich was provided during the tour, and there were also several opportunities to purchase coffee, snacks, and additional food along the way, making it easy to stay comfortable throughout the day. I highly recommend this tour, especially if you have Sigurjon as your guide!
Our Diamond Circle tour was one of the highlights of our trip, and Sven made it truly unforgettable! He was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and shared so many interesting facts about Iceland. What really set him apart was his willingness to go above and beyond by making an extra stop so we could see the puffins. Tour was canceled twice by the provider because the cruise ships did not align with the tour schedules. I did not have another day where I could reschedule. This is a cruise port and all tour activities apparently revolve around the scheduling of the cruise passengers. This can eliminate travelers who are not cruise people. It sure did with me.
We had a great time. Our driver was great and our guide kept playing us music! The sandwiches provided were pretty good.
Well organized, good communication even with confusion and delays in getting off ship. One member of our party fell and had to be taken by ambulance but all was handled and the rest of the group was able to continue. Good flexibility for another group member with physical limitations. And, of course, the scenery was amazing!

This was not the original tour we booked but a great substitute. The 3 stops around the lake were all so different and very interesting. Coming from Florida we have nothing like this! Excellent guide who was very knowledgeable.
