Det Sorte Colosseum, der venter på at blive udforsket under den moderne by!
Et af de mest stemningsfulde steder i Catania. En gammel lavahule, genbrugt i græsk tid som en cisterne og derefter som en katakombegrav af romerne. Ifølge traditionen var det stedet for den første begravelse af Sankt Agatha, hvorpå en lille kirke senere blev bygget så tidligt som i 262. I dag bevarer krypten stadig resterne af gamle fresker og dekorationer, der er hugget direkte ind i den levende klippe.
Amenano, en mystisk underjordisk flod, der vinder under det historiske centrum af Catania, oprindeligt flød til overfladen fodrer Niciters sø. Gennem århundrederne har udbrud, jordskælv og krige ændret ikke kun byens byplanlægning, men også dets naturlige udseende. Vi vil besøge en suggestiv glidende hul, hvor en flod af floden stadig strømmer

Matilda was wonderful and knowledgeable guide. Her love of Catania and her job really showed through on our tour! I would highly recommend this tour and especially on a Sunday as one of the sites is only open on that day.

Excellent guide who used his experience as an archeologist to really bring the tour alive. As well as very interesting information about the places we saw, he also shared with us the tastes of local history through food and drink that he bought for us at local venders. I would thoroughly recommend this tour for a real flavour of Catania

You will see underground Roman amphitheater which will is very impressive. But could do this in your own for a 4 euro entrance fee. Mathilda was very nice and knowledgeable but there are placards that explain everything. The other 2 places were caves nothing overly impressive and 1 euro entrance fees. We were treated to a typical Sicilian street food and water plus a granita type drink. Definitely not worth the cost of the tour

Underground Catania was the best way to experience and learn about the history, architecture, and culture of the city. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Catania for the first time!

It was a very knowledgeable tour guide who had a lot of passion of the subject, which we really enjoyed! Mathilde was great at answering all questions and always pointed at the most interesting aspects of the buildings/caves…etc. it is not a tour fully underground, but you’re visiting three separate underground locations. It is a great tour with a fantastic tour guide! Very highly recommend!

This was a really worthwhile and interesting experience, very glad we booked for it.
