I took an afternoon tour with Gabriel to the Miraflores Locks, Amador Causeway and Casco Viejo. The whole tour was fabulous and a great way to see all three places. Gabriel not only provided information about the Locks, but also how its’ construction intertwines with the history of Panama. The visit to the Locks was timed perfectly for us to watch the IMAX film narrated by Morgan Freeman, which brought the history of the canal to life. Then we had enough time to get to the viewing area to watch a ship pass through. The Amador Causeway stop was 20 minutes and was all that was needed. The final part was Casco Viejo, again Gabriel gave us lots of information about all the key sites as well as the main history of Casco Viejo.His knowledge and enthusiasm made this tour extra special.

The tour itself appeared to go smoothly, but I cannot recommend it because of serious concerns regarding the driver’s restaurant recommendation. At the driver's specific suggestion and after he contacted someone at the restaurant, our group ate at that restaurant. Before leaving, I and another person in our party personally identified and corrected arithmetic errors in the billing. Afterward, I discovered that the individual amounts charged also appeared to be higher than and did not accurately reflect the prices listed on the menu. I contacted the driver, and he said he would visit the restaurant the following day and get back to me. Despite his promise for a follow-up, he never responded. I cannot confirm whether the driver was involved in the billing problems, but the circumstances created a serious conflict-of-interest concern and the lack of follow-up is disappointing. Because of this experience, future customers may wish to use caution when relying on recommendations provided by the driver for any vendor and customers should independently determine appropriate prices, clarify charges, and negotiate terms where appropriate before making a purchase.

Carlos was an excellent guide. He took us to many hidden gems on the tour. It included a little bit of everything. We visited the canal and watch the IMAX movie. We visited Old Town Panama where we learned some history and did a bit of shopping. Kudos to Carlos for making our trip memorable!

I really enjoyed this trip with Gabriel. He made sure we were ahead of big crowds to get prime spots for viewing the canal, gave clear instructions on meet up times, anticipated rest stops. The tour included more than i had anticipated, we drove around parts of Panama City before our walking tour. Really enjoyable and very straightforward pickups with good communication.

The tour was amazing. Ronald spoke in both Spanish and English which was nice for someone like myself trying to learn and retain Spanish. It was a ridiculous amount of traffic but Ronald was smooth. Very interesting tour as well and nice to learn about the canal from a Panamanian perspective.
