Beliggende kun ti minutters gang fra Athens livlige historiske centrum, ser det afslappede Keramikos-kvarter ud til at leve i en magisk verden for sig. Det er et sted, hvor gammelt og nyt, Grækenlands historie og ofte turbulente nutid, tradition og fremadskuende kreativitet, alt sammen lever lykkeligt sammen. Der er få andre steder som det i den græske hovedstad, og på dagen for det ugentlige gademarked bliver kvarteret levende i et oprør af seværdigheder, lugte og smag.

På vores Keramikos madtur vil vi gå gennem det ugentlige gademarked og få en smagsprøve på den kreativitet og tradition, der bor her, og besøge kvarterets institutioner, både gamle og nye. Fra kretensisk hjemmelavet mad til klassisk kager i nordlig stil, sprudlende frisk fisk og skaldyr til souvlaki al fresco, det er et mirakel, at Keramikos forbliver et kvarter under radaren.

Natali led an amazing tour in a neighbourhood I would not normally have visited myself. A variety of stops in off the beaten path locations and very generous with a huge variety of food. I would definitely consider doing this tour again if in Athens on a Tuesday.

Konstantine was incredibly engaging and knowledgeable throughout the tour. We had a fabulous tour of some of the lesser known parts of Athens with the brilliantly informative Constantine. It was a tour for a maximum of 7 guests, and as we were the only people booked on that day, we had him pretty much to ourselves. Starting with snacks, coffee, and a variety of pies, and then two lunches, we ended the day full of food and much better informed about Athens, it's history, and Greek society than we started the day with. Come hungry and don't book dinner for the same day! We're heading for another destination where Culinary Backstreets operates and we'll definitely book them again.

We very much enjoyed this food tour ! It was just us, a wonderful Australian couple, and our fun and informative guide Constantine. We learned a lot, discovered places not usually visited by tourists in Athens, laughed a lot and enjoyed plenty of tasty food. Dont eat breakfast and go hungry, because you will get a lot to try and enjoy ! This is a very much recommended way to spend 6 hours in Athens.
