The Story Bridge er en kulturarvslistet stål-cantilever-bro, der strækker sig over Brisbane-floden, der fører bil-, cykel- og fodgængertrafik mellem de nordlige og sydlige forstæder til Brisbane, Queensland, Australien. Det er den længste cantilever bro i Australien. Vejen over broen hedder Bradfield Highway.

Vi vil rejse langs Brisbane-floden og se mange ting undervejs, fra historiske bygninger og broer til vores vidunderlige bykat, der sejler langs denne fantastiske lange flod, der strækker sig fra havets udmunding hele vejen til toowong.
Tjek den fantastiske udsigt over byen og Brisbane-floden! Kangaroo Point Cliffs blev skabt af straffefanger, der udvinder den vulkanske sten eller ignimbrit eller svejset tuf, som danner klipperne.[2] Disse lavaer og pyroklastiske klipper blev aflejret i triasperioden for omkring 230 millioner år siden og fyldte en gammel floddal. Disse sten blev kendt som porfyr og blev senere kendt som den geologiske enhed kaldet Brisbane tuff.[3] Optegnelser viser, at det var kaptajn Patrick Logan, kommandant for straffebopladsen Moreton Bay, der først åbnede et stenbrud for at levere sten til hans bygningsværker så tidligt som i 1826. Sten fra stenbruddet blev brugt til at beklæde dele af Brisbane-floden med mure, til Manly Boat Harbor og ved den nye havn i Brisbane. Stenbruddet lukkede endeligt i 1976.[3]
Se Brisbane oppefra med næsten 360 graders udsigt over byen! Før straffeforliget i Moreton Bay var Mount Coot-tha hjemsted for Yugara-aboriginerne. Aboriginerne kom til området for at indsamle ku-ta, Yugarabul-ordet for honning, der blev produceret af den indfødte stikløse bi. I 1839 ryddede landmåler James Warner og hans team toppen af bjerget for alle træer undtagen et stort eukalypttræ. Fordi dette enkelte træ kunne ses fra mange andre steder, blev det brugt som en trigonometrisk station til at tage landmålingsmålinger. Dette førte til, at bjerget blev kaldt One Tree Hill. I 1873 blev skovene på bjerget reserveret som en tømmerreserve til at levere tømmer til Queenslands voksende jernbanenet. Navnet Coot-tha erstattede navnet One Tree Hill, da området blev erklæret en park i august 1883. Navnet blev foreslået af Henry Wyatt Radford, Clerk of the Queensland Legislative Council.
Vi vil spise frokost her og tid til at vandre i haven. Brisbane Botanic Gardens har en række attraktioner med planter fra forskellige landskaber, herunder et tropisk drivhus, en japansk have, en tør zone (planter fra Mellemamerika og Afrika) og en Pacific Island-zone. Besøg det længst kørende koalareservat i Australien! En fantastisk lille zoo! Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary blev åbnet i 1927 af Queenslander, Claude Reid. Vi åbnede oprindeligt med kun to koalaer, Jack og Jill, på et tidspunkt, hvor vilde koalaer blev aflivet til pelshandel. Det blev hurtigt erkendt af Claude, at noget skulle gøres for at hjælpe med at beskytte en af Australiens mest ikoniske arter. Helligdommen er opkaldt efter den enorme bøjlefyr, der stadig står i dag ved vores billetindgang. Det siges, at det enkelte fyrretræ plejede at være en placeringsmarkør for gæster, der besøgte helligdommen via Brisbane-floden, og fortøjede deres både ved 'ensomme fyr'. Træet blev plantet af Daniel Clarkson i 1867, da ejendommen var en bomuldsfarm.

What a wonderful day! Mark took us straight to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary before all the big tour buses arrived. We spent over two hours there and got to feed the kangaroos and touch the koala. It was getting very busy when we left. Lunch out was delicious and the views of Brisbane were spectacular. Thank you!

It was a difficult weather day, not the tour company’s fault obviously. Generally they did a good job improvising and making the best of it; however having better process over checking people in, who had bought lunch, who was not riding back, and the communication of where/when to meet could have been better. We would definitely do again, and felt it was still good value, despite Mother Nature raining on our parade!

Tania provided an excellent tour of Brisbane, including Mt. Coot-tha, the river area and bridge, and the botanical gardens where we had a good lunch. We ended the tour at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where we fed the kangaroos and met an adorable koala. I highly recommend this tour for anyone traveling to Brisbane.

Had a wonderful time on this tour. While we left late due to one couple arriving well after the clearly stated time, Mark (our guide) did a great job rearranging our itinerary, so we were able to see everything we wanted to see. Loved the small van vs. the BIG bus you end up on when you book through the cruise line. We were able to hop off quickly at all the stops, spend an appropriate amount of time, and jump right back on. We could have spent less time at the Koala Sanctuary as most of the group were done under 2 hours (we were allotted 2.5 hours) so suggestion for future would be somehow predetermine how long the stay should be.

Great customer service from booking to return to the cruise terminal. Tanya is a great guide and driver, if you overlooked her dad jokes! 🤣 Lunch was very nice and tasty after our highlights tour and set us up nicely for the lone pine tree visit. Bottle of water provided which was very welcome on a hot day. The packet of crisps were the dogs B as it's been 6+ weeks since I last had a packet. To get a real personal service, do book this one.
