Classic Salkantay Trek til Machu Picchu 5 dage

Overall a phenomenal experience! The Inca trail is beautiful and a fantastic buildup to Machu Picchu. I can summarise our experience with the company in 3 main points: - The guide: Ronny is fantastic! He is a walking encyclopaedia with knowledge of everything in Inca history. He is also very entertaining and was a good ice breaker when we met our travel group for the first time. - The food: Silverio is an excellent chef! You can expect some great Peruvian food from the kitchen staff and be assured that you will never finish hungry. - Accessibility: My wife is blind and we have done many treks before. Sometimes companies can be over- or under-compensating regarding her eyesight. Fortunately, Xtreme were incredibly relaxed about it, and let us get on with the trek without any hassle, while accommodating us with our own personal porter (thank you Ninasio) for just in case. Overall, I can highly recommend this company!

This trek was the highlight of our holiday! Our guide, Rossi, really made this such an amazing experience. Rossi was very attentative, ensuring the welfare of our group throughout the hike; she even went out of her way to help a group of hikers who had become seperated from a different tour company. We are grateful for her expertise and the time that Rossi took to teach us her rich culture (on the trail and at Machu Picchu) allowing us to share some customes and immerse ourselves in as much of this wonderful country as we could. Speaking excellent English and French, Rossi was brilliant at translating between differnent people in our diverse group, enhancing our overall experience. The food was excellent throughout the hike, you will not go hungry on this trip! The Chef done a great job for catering for dietary requirements while we were hiking. The route is really manageable. Making sure your comfortable hill walking for consecutive days is a must. Your main baggage is transported for you, so you'll only ever be carrying a day-bag during the trek.

The experience is unique, unforgettable, and repeatable. It is one of the best experiences I have had in my life and the guide who took us is the best; he made us manage to reach the arrival at Machu Picchu and experience the arrival at the Sun Gate. He is not just a guide but a motivator; thanks to him, we experienced the trail in the best way. Thank you Agapito Huaman. I hope to repeat it and enjoy that Inca Trail again. The camping experience is spectacular; the food and the attention after a long day make one able to enjoy the hospitality and rest. Thanks to the team that took care of us at the camp.

A demanding, stunning trek, and an agency that rose to the conditions. The weather didn't spare us. It rained for the first two days, and on the second, at the Salkantay pass at 4,630 metres, there was heavy snow and a biting cold. Landslides forced the team to adapt the route on the third day, which they did without hesitation, clearly putting our safety first. On the logistics side, nothing to fault. A support team of six accompanied us — two cooks, two muleteers and two guides. The food was consistently incredible, with genuine vegetarian options. The duffel bags provided, up to six kilos carried by the mules, really change your life over four days. The first two nights are spent in igloo tents with no heating, so drying your gear is impossible, but a fire was organised on the second evening, which helped a lot. The third night is a proper hotel, with heating. Some tips: with that humidity, plastic bags are worth their weight in gold — to keep your gear dry in your pack, and even your feet dry in your boots. Also keep small change in your pockets, as access to toilets on the way costs 1-2 sols. The guides made the experience. Even in a group of twelve, they took the time to answer every question and explain things properly, which made it feel personal rather than mass-produced. They also introduced us to coffee — how it's harvested and prepared — and we roasted it by hand before tasting it. A genuine highlight. We got lucky on days three and four: the sky cleared and we had full sunshine for Machu Picchu. The timing was well handled, with an early morning slot that let us enjoy the site and then walk back down at our own pace before catching the train at Aguas Calientes. The service extended beyond the trail, too. They picked us up on arrival in Cusco, and when the minibus didn't serve our hotel directly (due to narrow streets), they arranged a taxi so we could get there properly. In the end, and whatever the conditions throw at you, the trek is absolutely worth it. Four days of effort before reaching Machu Picchu give the arrival a meaning that no bus or train could ever provide — you truly feel you've earned it. A special thank you to Juan, our guide, who handled a difficult situation and led us through it brilliantly, and to the whole agency, who took great care of us throughout.

We had an amazing time during our Salkantay trek with Xtreme Tourbulencia. The night before the start we met the guide, Raul, in our hotel lobby where he explained in detail what we were going to do and what we could expect. During the entire trip Raul was an amazing guide. Always enthousiastic, motivational and informative. The food we were served at breakfast, lunch and dinner was outstanding. Both our cooks, Grimaldo and Justin surprised us time and time again with amazing dishes. Overall a great experience we would recommend to everyone. 10/10!

We had Raul as our Guide and he is an incredibly kind and nice person and did a wonderful job of keeping us motivated on the trek. It was organized perfectly, with pickup and sleeping locations always prepared. Our cooks put a lot of effort into every meal, providing vegetarian options and a big variety of meals with soups as starters that were really important to warm you up after a long day of hiking. There were a variety of additional experiences offered, like visiting a coffee plantation, hot springs or an additional hike to a mountain lagoon with some more we didn’t do. The second day to the top of the Salkantay trek is by far the hardest but with the horses provided by the company carrying some of the weight and an emergency horse, ready to carry anyone who couldn’t continue, always at the back of the group it felt safe and well organized. The accommodation was a good compromise between glamping and camping as there were domes to sleep in rather than tents but it was still simple enough to not feel too out of nature and provided just the right amount of comfort. Overall it was a challenging but extremely fun experience that provided incredible views, food and a different side of Peru that I can only recommend you try for yourself.

The 5 day Salkantay trek with guide Nestor Guevara, chef Uriel and horseman Donato was absolutely incredible! We were a group of just two(!) people. Nestor made sure that we were always having a good time. He has a vast knowledge of the nature, especially birds, and Inca culture which made the trip, next to beautiful views, very informative and interesting. The hiking days are quite long, but Nestor always provided information to think about. The pacing was perfect. I had a situation where I lost my camera along the trail. Nestor was extraordinarily helpful and we managed to find my camera. At Machu Picchu Nestor gave me a very detailled picture of Incan life, which made the ancient world wonder really come alive for me. A special thanks to the chef Uriel. This guy is really outstanding. We found ourselves laughing in disbelief at how good the food was that this guy was preparing.. Ridiculous! There was always plenty food and water. We both had our private 'domes' and often we had hot showers which honestly made this trek quite luxurious. Horseman Donato was also great. They do such tough work and yet he was always smiling! The trek itself is quite crowded the first day, as the path is shared with daytours. It got way better from the evening in the first day on. I had an unforgettable time and can recommend this tour with xtreme tourbulencia to anyone!

Beyond words to be able to experience the trail; from the beginning at the hotel, the guide Henry was spectacular, speechless. To the company, do not lose him; he transmits tranquility, security, and confidence, and everyone knows him along the way; this is a very valuable point to keep in mind. PS: He spoke to us about the sleeping bags we brought, and really, thanks to him, we ended up renting, and it was the best thing—sleeping well and warm, speechless.
