Beskrivning

Excellent boat trip to see the beaches of Menorca

The day was perfect from beginning to end, very well organised. We were taken to beautiful beaches in Menorca. The paella looked amazing (we didn’t have it) but took our own lunch. A great day out I’d highly recommend. The crew were brilliant ..

Tourist trap

I am not one to leave bad reviews, but in this case, I was really not satisfied. It is just a money-making machine. Rain was forecast and I was watching for a possible cancellation, which did not happen... as a result, it rained for half of the excursion, which was cut short because of the storm. For lunch, we were told to return to the boat at 1:00 PM, which we did to make the most of the beach at Son Saura and Es Talaier for the 2 hours. Except that we were the only ones to do so, and the paella was apparently served earlier! We had to fight to get a mini plate of paella (even though they were setting aside another plate for others before us) and a glass of a drink to eat standing up because there were no more seats (convenient with a child). In short, very expensive for the service provided, which in my opinion should have been canceled given the weather conditions, but given the number of tourists on the boat, I understand that the loss of earnings would have been huge... (more than 100 people if not more, I didn't count, at €75, that's a lot!) It is a shame that this comes at the expense of people who sacrifice to afford this kind of pleasure!!

Nice experience

Nice boat trip but you should know that there are many of us on the boat. The first ones to arrive on the boat can choose the good seats. Hearty meal and you can go back for seconds. However, no one counts to see if everyone is back on board after the swimming times…

Very mixed

Overall, we found that the value for money as well as the services offered were very reasonable. The crew was pleasant and the boat trip was a great experience; furthermore, the paella was to our taste. On the other hand, I find it a real shame that there were so many of us. The various beaches and coves visited were extremely crowded, with a real impression of mass tourism. This unfortunately takes away a large part of the charm and natural character that one comes to Menorca specifically to find. One point particularly bothered me: the guides encouraged people to feed bread to the fish. I find this practice unethical in a natural environment. This alters the behavior of the fish and gets them used to coming to look for food near the boats. At Cala en Turqueta, I was also very surprised to see the presence of a lot of plastic waste in the water; the situation was concerning. What I am especially questioning is the regulation of access to these coves. When you see so many boats and so many people arriving simultaneously at a small natural beach, I find it hard to understand why access by boat is not more limited or regulated. Moreover, the available data shows that Cala en Turqueta is already suffering from very high overcrowding, with attendance having reached more than four times its optimal carrying capacity. I think it would be really interesting to favor smaller groups, to limit the number of boats that can access the coves simultaneously, and above all to further educate visitors on respecting marine life. A very beautiful outing on paper, but one that unfortunately raises real questions regarding sustainable tourism and the preservation of Menorca.
