Vår fantastiska turné börjar vid Torres de Serranos, där vi kommer att träffas för att göra en introduktion av Valencias historia, och prata om den gamla huvudporten till den medeltida muren, sammanslutningen med Turiafloden och de olika murarna som Valencia hade.

San Nicolás, känt som "Valencianska Sixtinska kapellet", är ett av de mest attraktiva templen i staden, med nästan 2 000 kvadratmeter perfekt restaurerade fresker som gör besökarna andfådda. De spektakulära målningarna som pryder valvet representerar den dubbelt så stora ytan av freskerna i Sixtinska kapellet i Rom. Med mer än 700 år gammal är Sankt Nikolaus, som redan var en plats för tillbedjan under romartiden innan han blev en moské och en kristen kyrka senare, ett tydligt exempel på samexistens perfekt mellan ett tempel med en gotisk struktur och en fantastisk barockdekoration.
Det är en överraskande gotisk byggnad som placerar Valencia stad på listan över världsarv. Det är inte lätt att se stora civila byggnader av gotisk arkitektur, som vi i vår fantasi har mer kopplat till centrala och södra Europas stora katedraler. Av denna anledning förklarades Lonja de la Seda 1996 till ett världsarv av UNESCO. Detta internationella organ motiverar förklaringen eftersom det är ett exceptionellt exempel på civil gotik och representerar styrkan i handeln i Medelhavsstäder under tiden för dess uppbyggnad. Det byggdes på bara 15 år under 1400-talet. Vi kommer in för att upptäcka varför det var så viktigt med siden.
Byggt på ett gammalt romerskt tempel som senare var en moské. I katedralen i Valencia observerar vi många element från olika perioder, från romansk till barock. Konstruktionen började på XIII-talet, med många reformer under århundradena hittar vi denna monumentala byggnad. Visste du att den heliga kalken finns i katedralen i Valencia? Och att det också rymmer ett av de viktigaste bildverken från den första spanska renässansen? Historia och konst blandas i katedralen. Dess väggar och dörrar skyddar också skatter som är lika värdefulla som den heliga kalken. Många studier tror att Valencias graal är den som Jesus använde vid den sista måltiden. Därför använde påvarna Johannes Paulus II och Benedikt XVI denna relik vid firandet av eukaristin vid sina besök i Valencia. En annan av katedralens juveler är renässansfreskerna på Högaltaret i Valencia-katedralen, som återupptäcktes för tio år sedan när barockvalvet som täckte dem togs bort.

Excellent tour. Found out lots about the sights and Valencia from Paolino. The entrances to the monuments are included which is really good especially on a hot day and you see the long queues waiting in the sun. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed this visit. Sonia (the guide) explained everything very well, and if you asked her something, she would respond with a thorough explanation without getting annoyed. Moreover, she is very friendly and accompanied us to the heart of Valencia, also telling us about the typical festival of Las Fallas (I am not sure if it is spelled this way). Even though she is Valencian, she spoke Italian well. I highly recommend it; I hope you get Sonia as your guide.

Value was good considering we gained entry to multiple spots we would have had to otherwise wait in line and purchase admission separately for. The tour felt long with a bit of time waiting around that seemed it could have been maximized since there is so much to see in Valencia. We could not hear or understand our guide and left us feeling like we didn't learn much and made the overall experience unengaging. Directions to meetup were unlcear as the meeting point is a rather large area with multiple tours meeting in one spot. We did look frantically for the white sign with blue ribbon and could not find our group and were nearly left behind, along with another group of 3 that was lost too - for a total of 7, or half the group, almost left behind and then started without. Our guide also left people behind in the bathroom after encouraging a stop, then continuing on without the people who chose to use the restroom. Overall, I am happy we went simply for the expedited access, but everything else left a lot to be desired. I was hoping to learn more about the city and the history.

We wanted to get an overview of the city history and sites. Catalina was an awesome guide. She was very knowledgeable about the sites we visited and truly cared about what we were learning and seeing. I highly recommend her and the tour. Was great to skip the lines at all the venues. Highlight was the light show at St Nicholas church. To note - we did the tour on a Sunday so the Central Market was closed. Not a big deal cause we went back another day.

Beautiful and informative tour! Each of the sites were spectacular. City center in Valencia is lovely. Guide was knowledgeable and answered everyone’s questions. It would have been helpful if the guide wore a speaker and we had headsets. At times it was difficult to hear what he was saying at when he turned to whatever we were viewing.

Well done. Our guide was very excellent and gave a great experience. We had a financial issue with our payment since there was a slight itinerary change that had to be resolved the day prior. The tour operator was prompt at taking care the issue with several last minute emails.
