Zhinvali, även Jinvali, är en konstgjord vattenreservoar som ligger vid floden Aragvi i Georgien. Byggnaden av den vattenkraftiga dammen bildade Zhinvali-reservoaren. Dammen har byggts 1986. Du kommer att vara glad över vattnet perfekt blå färg omgiven av berg.
Ananuri-fästningen är ett slottskomplex från 1500-talet på floden Aragvi. Fästningen står bredvid den berömda georgiska militärvägen, med utsikt över en stor sjö i Jinvali. Dess höga, tornade stenmurar skyddar två kyrkor, en vakttorn och en reservoar. Huvudkyrkans fasad är vackert snidad med djur, blommiga och keltiska stilmönster.

Nästa stopp på vägen är Gudauri, en anmärkningsvärd skidort i Georgien. Anläggningen ligger på en höjd av 7217 meter (2200 meter) över havet. Den första nedre lyftstationen ligger vid 6528 meter över havet och den sista eller översta är stationen på 3.306 meter kallad toppmötet Sadzele. Anläggningen erbjuder skidmöjligheter av hög kvalitet. Skidsäsongen varar från december till april.
Ryssland-Georgiens vänskapsmonument eller Georgievsk-monumentet är ett monument som byggdes 1983 för att fira det halvtioåriga av Georgievsk-fördraget och den pågående vänskapen mellan Sovjet Georgien och Sovjet Ryssland. Fantastisk utsikt!

På en höjd av 7119 meter (2170 meter) byggdes monumentet tolfte eller trettonde århundradet på Mkinvarcveris södra sluttningar. Gergeti Trinity Church är ett viktigt tempel, anmärkningsvärt för dess vackra landskap. Gergeti-treenighetskyrkan ligger på en kulle direkt under den tuffa vita massivet av Kazbek-kullen, som sitter vid 5,033 meter. Byggd för sex hundra år sedan, har dess stenar förvirrad upprepade snöstormar, regn och invasion att stå som en stolt symbol på georgisk motståndskraft inför motgången. Det är den tredje högsta toppen i Georgien (efter Mount Shkhara och Janga) och det sjunde högsta toppmötet i Kaukasus bergen. Kazbek är också det näst högsta vulkaniska toppmötet i Kaukasus, efter Mount Elbrus. Toppmötet ligger direkt väster om staden Stepantsminda och är den mest framträdande geografiska egenskapen i området. Mount Kazbek är den högsta toppen i östra Georgien.
På vägen tillbaka till Tbilisi stoppar vi vid en av restaurangerna i Pasanauri byn. Denna plats betraktas som födelseplats för georgiska dumplings - Khinkali. Här kan du också prova färsk fisk, lamm och mycket mer.

This tour was nothing short of exceptional. From start to finish, everything was flawlessly organized and thoughtfully executed. My guide, Gio, was outstanding – incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about his country. He shared not only historical facts, but also cultural context and personal insights that gave real depth to the experience. It was a true pleasure to spend the day in his company. Equally impressive was driver, Pancho. He drove with great care and confidence, even on challenging mountain roads, and was always courteous, and attentive. His calm presence added a lot to the overall comfort of the day. The tour followed the itinerary exactly as promised, and every stop was both visually stunning and culturally enriching. I felt I gained a genuine overview of the region. This was far more than just sightseeing – it was an experience full of meaning and discovery. The guide was excellent and all the info she gave about this and that made it a good tour. Hence, even tough the driving distance was significant we still had fun. The mountains were of course also very interesting to see.

I had an amazing day with Khatuna from friendly.ge exploring the Kazbegi area. She picked me up from my airbnb in a super comfy car and drove us safely to all the stunning places, telling great and fun stories. We had a wonderful trip with our driver Khatuna who was an excellent, safe driver who went out of her way to make this an incredibly memorable experience. I took a private tour to Kazbegi in August 2023. Aleksi was a great guide -- knowledgeable, thoughtful, and very flexible and accommodating. We were able to tack on a few additional sites I was interested in and he didn't charge me extra. Communication was very smooth. Thanks so much, Aleksi!

What a breathtaking tour! We went in March when the mountains are still snowy and the view was everything. Out guide, Aleksi, was also great, told us many things about the mountains, Georgian culture and more. He was very helpful and flexible with accommodating all our requests. We can only recommend this tour if you love the mountains and want a full day of eyecandy :)

We've had a wonderful day with Giorgi. It was both full of natural wonders and historical adventure. Through the entire trip we discussed architecture, Georgia's blockbuster history and unique culture and language. From ancient time through Golden era to the sorrow times of strife, Russian Imperial rule, being a part of USSR and back to independence, not historical stone was left unturned. It was accompanied by interesting anecdotes and spectacular views from the car windows. Giorgi was also accommodating when we wanted to take pictures outside of the standard itinerary. I think out of everything I've taken as a tour in Georgia, that was the most interesting one. I'd like to mention that he speaks both English and exceptionally fluent Russian so we were switching back-and-forth as required to understand each other. Keep it awesome, folks!
