Christ Church är hem för många underverk, och jag har turen att vara en av de få guider ackrediterade för att ta privata turer inomhus. Colleget sätter dessa till 5 personer, så de är väldigt exklusiva! Christ Church är den mest kända högskolan i världens äldsta engelskspråkiga universitet, unik i att ha ett kapell som också är en katedral. Det har varit en gudstjänstlokal i 1300 år, grundad av ett hetsigt saxiskt helgon innan Oxford ens existerade. Med tiden blev det hem inte bara för tusentals forskare utan för den verkliga Alice i Underlandet och, mer nyligen, en berömd pojke trollkarl. Jag inbjuder dig att resa tillbaka i tiden via den spektakulära Tudor matsalen, mirakulöst räddade antika helgedom, snidade tronen av dödsdömda kung Karl I, fantastiska Hogwarts trappa och sällsynta medeltida målade glasfönster för att få en historia av inte bara college, men England självt. Vi börjar på de härliga Christ Church-ängarna och besöker sedan kollegiet och katedralen. Resplanen inkluderar: - Den häpnadsväckande Tudorhallen där kungar, drottningar och den riktiga Alice i Underlandet alla har ätit. - Den fantastiska fläktvalvtrappan där Harry Potter filmades. - Tom Quad där Oxford University-studenter bor och arbetar, kung Charles I samlade sina trupper under inbördeskriget och Sir Christopher Wren byggde ett berömt klocktorn. – De gamla klostret där munkar en gång strövade omkring. - Christ Church-katedralen där vi kommer att se det härliga välvda taket från 1400-talet, St Frideswides helgedom och en rad fantastiska målat glas från medeltiden, genom prerafaeliterna till nutid. Denna turné är beroende av att Christ Church är öppen för besökare denna dag. När du bokar ska jag kolla med kollegiet.

What an amazing experience we had with Jess, the remarkable Lady Gargoyle, on our recent visit to Christ Church Oxford. She brough alive our unique Tudor past with charm, wit and a wealth of knowledge of her subject which can only come from someone who lives and breathes the history of our Country. Jess seeks out the important evidence and facts with glimpses into the lives of so many of their famous alumni & residents (we loved the information about Charles Dodgson, and the real 'Alice' and the beautiful story of St Frideswide explained through the stunning stained glass above her shrine ) It was wonderful to have the opportunity to climb the famous stunning staircase & visit the Dining Hall containing the portraits of the many famous, and infamous, who have lived, worked and studied in these beautiful buildings. We cannot praise Jess more highly and will most certainly be back for more of her fabulous tours in the future!
Jessica provided us with an exceptional tour. Every question we asked, she answered. Clearly Jessica has an extensive knowledge of the university and the cathedral. She is not just a tour guide who can explain the history of Christ Church, she walked us through many of the influences and even shared many stained-glass details. So glad we booked this tour; Jessica was warm, friendly and we very much enjoyed the time spent.

Our guide Jess was excellent with an amazing knowledge of Christ Church! Even though some areas had been closed by the college on the day of our tour, it was totally worth doing. Highly recommended!!
Jess was very knowledgeable and took her time with our blind son and made sure he had great tactile experiences. Afterwards she even walked us to a great pub for lunch! Great visit
We were a group of five, aged from 9 to 76, with a diverse range of interests and enthusiasms. Jess catered for us all, taking us from the stories of saints to Alice in Wonderland connections and Harry Potter locations. The history , architecture , stained glass and art of Christchurch is stunning and we’re hoping that Jess will develop a tour taking in more Oxford colleges.
