Mitt i de gamla kvarteren är Bach Ma-templet ett av de äldsta och heligaste templen i staden, som ursprungligen grundades på 800-talet. Översättningen av Bach Ma är White Horse och detta syftar på en historia bakom bygget av templet. Kung Ly Thai To hade kämpat för att bygga templet eftersom dess väggar fortsatte att kollapsa. Det sägs att en vit häst avgränsade det bästa området för att bygga templet med sina hovar för att hjälpa kungen att bygga templet. Gå in i templet genom några gamla trädörrar varefter du kommer att kunna se den vackert dekorerade interiören och en rödlackad begravningspalanquin. Inne i templet hittar du en staty av den vita hästen, en helgedom för Konfucius och ett Fenixaltare för erbjudanden till de fyra årstiderna. Bach Ma-templet används fortfarande aktivt av tillbedjare som kommer hit för att bränna rökelse och be.
Long Bien Bridge är en unik arkitektur som är evig med upp- och nedgångar i Hanoi-huvudstaden och har blivit en av stadens symboler. Bron är inte bara en trafikkonstruktion utan också en levande historisk relik. Under franska och amerikanska krig har Long Bien Bridge bevittnat många historiska stunder. Long Bien Bridge byggdes från 1989 till 1902 under den franska ockupationen av landet. Det är inte många som vet att Long Bien-bron brukade vara den näst längsta bron i världen, precis efter Brooklyn Bridge från American, med längden över 2 km. Intressant nog är Long Bien Bridge den enda bron i Hanoi som gör det möjligt för turister att ta en promenad längs tågspåret, smaka på några desserter eller köpa färsk grönsak eller fisk från leverantörerna på bron. Dessutom sa besökare som kommer till Hanoi att Long Bien Bridge är det bästa stället att titta på solnedgången och ta några fina bilder.
Dong Xuan-marknaden grundades 1889 av franska och uppkallades efter dess plats. Då var marknaden en gynnsam handelsplats, särskilt efter att franska byggde Long Bien-bron. Du kanske inte vet, varje forntida gata i Hanoi fick sitt namn efter deras ursprungliga verksamhet, som sedan flyttades till Dong Xuan-marknaden under den franska dominansen. Kien was an excellent guide! His personal knowledge of Vietnam history and culture mixed well with his time living in USA and Ireland. English was excellent so he understood question right off. We started tour with a beautiful view of the city from a rooftop lounge, then inside for cold iced coffee and history lesson (sitting in the air conditioning!). We walked to a few interesting places including a tiny alley to see how some live in Hanoi. Kien described culture of "shop roads" and "fake paper" -- things that you wouldn't know just by walking the old Quarter. Highest rating for this walking tour and Kien as our guide!!

We had such an interesting and enjoyable tour with Angelina. It was our first day in Hanoi and it gave us a great starting point for understanding the city and history. The tour was a combination of information, history, conversation and trying some local food along the way. Angelina was a wonderful guide, very open, knowledgeable and fun! So interesting to see some places we wouldn’t have gone on our own.

Dung was a great guide. Her English was excellent, and she was very friendly and open. I felt I had the opportunity to learn more about how people reallly live, as well as some history/orientation. My only disappointment was that the sites and markets were closed for the 6pm tour, which was NOT clarified for me. Had I known, I probably would have done a different tour. Still, I enjoyed the chat and opportunity to see the city at night with a local. Plus, Dung bought me a treat of delish donuts! I bet the earlier tours are super.

Nice guide that gave us an ok guide of Vietnam and Hanoi. Recommend tours where they have a microphone, as the guide spoke a little low and there is a lot of noise in the streets of Hanoi.
