I had a lovely day with Alfred learning about tanzanites and visiting a few shops. My favorite part of the visit was to Shanga. Such a wonderful concept with a lovely gift shop. For lunch, Alfred took me to one of his favorite local BBQ spots and ordered the best food Arusha has to offer. It was a great day! It was nice to have a friendly, helpful guide and driver to navigate through Arusha.
I walked in to be immediately greeted and offered tea/water. Then watched a 10 minute educational video which was super exciting to watch then walk through a replica mine where you learn just how the tanzanite is found and mined. 100% would recommend this experience. Tabitha is very friendly dly and very knowledgeable. She can show you anything you want to see or learn about :)

Travel through Arusha to Tanzanite Experience. We saw the museum on mining stones to all the way through stone cutting and grading. And of course they want to sell you some jewelry. We then went to the Cultural Center for souvenir shopping. Total time under 3 hours

My family and I first had a really nice cup of coffee. Then we had a tour of the tanzantite museum with the very sweet and informative guide Naomi. She seemed very passionate about her job.

Had the most amazing experience touring the Tanzanite Museum. Our wonderful tour guide, Paschal, welcomed us and directed us to the lovely refreshment area and then began the tour with a short video on the history on Tanzanite, followed by a visit inside a recreated mine to show us what it’s like for miners procuring tanzanite, which was very informative. He then guided us to the section of the museum where you can purchase tanzanite stones or tanzanite jewels already set. Eunice, Oprah and one the newer trainees walked us through the variation of stones and helped us complete our ouch anticipated purchase. My sister-in-law and I both treated ourselves to a beautiful stone that we will have set back in the States. Everyone was wonderful and happy and very informative. I highly recommend visiting the Tanzanite Experience, even if only going for the tour, but especially if purchasing a piece of jewelry. Being the only place to purchase authentic tanzanite where it is mined is very special, but what is most special is this company shares a percentage of their profits to help the Maasai people financially and also a percentage towards helping children with disabilities. Mpemba our driver was really informative about Arusha on the drive to the Tanzanite experience. The Tanzanite museum staff explained in full detail about how Tanzanite was made. Mpemba took us out to an amazing gallery to look around and to the food markets in Arusha after the Tanzanite experience tour. It was a really nice such a short funny little day. We were lucky to have such a nice driver Mpemba for this experience.

After being picked up from my hostel, Mpemba gave me a fantastic guided tour of the city, sharing his great knowledge and taking me to the best shops for souvenirs. The highlight was exploring the stunning tanzanite jewellery. Despite my small budget, Mpemba patiently took me to four shops, ensuring I learned about the history and process of these beautiful stones.
