På denna 3-timmars Street Food Tour, kommer du att upptäcka den verkliga Ortigia-genom sina smaker, dolda hörn och lokala berättelser. Vegetariska alternativ tillgängliga! Vi börjar som lokalbefolkningen: med ett uppfriskande sicilianskt iskaffe. Bege dig sedan till det äldsta bageriet i stan för att prova vad jag tror är den bästa Arancino i Siracusa—gjord färsk varje morgon. Vi kommer att gå genom lugna gränder, fiskarnas torg och hörn de flesta besökare aldrig når. På marknaden smakar du capuliato, ugnsbakad ricotta, pistaschsalami, mandelbakverk, pistaschgrädde och – beroende på säsong – Pachinotomater eller taggiga päron. Sedan träffar vi min familj av ostmakare och njuter av ricotta, mozzarella och ditt livs bästa panino. Vi avslutar med en färsk fruktgranit från Ortigias mest traditionella gelateria. Vi kommer att utgå från Arkimedestorget, framför den vackra Dianafontänen, som representerar jaktens gudinna och ansågs vara stadens beskyddare av grekerna. Härifrån kommer vi att ge oss ut för att utforska ön, leta efter nya smaker och aromer, fördjupa oss som lokalbefolkning snarare än turister.
Vi fortsätter sedan längs Via Roma, en av de charmigaste och vackraste gatorna på ön Ortigia. Vi provar kaffet som vi lokalbefolkning njuter av här. Som riktiga italienare börjar vi naturligtvis dagen med kaffe. Men för dem som inte dricker det kommer det att finnas ett alternativ tillgängligt.
Därefter kommer vi att utforska den fantastiska stadsdelen Giudecca, min personliga favorit. Mitt bland tidigare synagogor och några dolda pärlor kommer jag att dela med mig av berättelser om recepten som introducerats av araberna i detta område. Jag ska fördjupa mig i historien om arancino, en av Siciliens symboler, och vi kommer att ägna oss åt olika versioner av denna maträtt.
Vi kommer sedan att ge oss in i den icke-turistiska delen av ön, en plats full av historier och hemligheter som ofta går obemärkt förbi för dem som inte känner till. Jag kommer att dela anekdoter och berättelser om våra symboler och kulinariska kultur. Vi navigerar genom ön och dess invecklade stigar, vilket leder oss till den lokala marknaden.
Äntligen når vi Ortigia-marknaden, en magisk plats fylld av uråldriga smaker, livfulla färger, människor och kultur. Vi kommer att prova olika erbjudanden från olika leverantörer och smaka på lokala specialiteter som "pomodoro alla siracusana" (tomater i Syracuse-stil), ost, salami, lokal olivolja, ricotta och mandelbakelser.
Senare kommer vi att uppleva njutningen av en traditionell mjölkgård, den mest förtrollande platsen i Ortigia, där du kommer att njuta av ostar och den mest läckra panino du någonsin smakat. Lita på mig på den här.
Vi avslutar turnén med något sött och uppfriskande. Vi njuter av den traditionella granitan och, naturligtvis, den sicilianska cannolon hos en av öns mest traditionella och välsmakande gelatotillverkare.

This was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Sicily! Dario wasn’t just a food guide—he shared his home, his culture, and his passion for Sicilian food in a way that made the entire evening unforgettable. Every stop was delicious, but what made the tour so special was hearing the stories behind the dishes, the traditions, and the history of Ortigia. Dario’s love for Sicily is contagious, and by the end of the tour we felt like we had experienced the island through the eyes of a local. The food was so incredible that we actually went back the very next day to eat at several of the places he introduced us to! That’s how good his recommendations were. If you’re visiting Syracuse or Ortigia, don’t miss this tour. Come hungry and ready to learn about authentic Sicilian cuisine and culture. I highly recommend this food tour! My family (2 teenagers included) really enjoyed it. We had the best arancini of our lives and the history that Dario shares about his island is truly facinating! This was a highlight of our trip.

Dario was a great guide. Friendly, fun and knowledgeable. There were 15 on our tour, a mixture of British, Irish, American and Australian. Atmosphere was really friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Dario was exceptional. He provided a great blend of history, culture. and, of course, great food places at which we were able to enjoy the best Ortigia had to offer. He was not only informative but also very entertaining. I highly recommend this tour - it is a great use of approximately 3 hours.
